I've never flown anywhere in the wintertime that I can remember it snowing, but I'm supposed to fly to Detroit on Thurs and it's supposed to snow. So my ? is do the airports always close when it snows or does it vary and how?

it is detroit

it snows there often

they know how to deal with it

dont worry but call ahead before you leave for the airport to see what the deal is

if they can keep the runways clear and the planes de-iced then the airport will be open

they only will cancel flights when de-icing becomes a problem. sometimes its so cold that by the time they finish de-icing the wings, they are frozen again.
