Ok, Garage, I need your help.My boyfriend has an '86 Ford Ranger and the seatbelts don't work... i.e. they will not lock up when pulled suddenly and get stuck while loose and mike clicky sounds. I don't know how seatbelts work exactly but I'm told the pendulums (or something) are bad. Both the driver's side and the passenger's side have this problem. Now, I called my mechanic (whos AWESOME) and he called the Ford guy to see if we could get new seatbelt assemblies to put in there so, you know, we won't DIE if we get in a wreck. Ford guy said that they don't have replacement seatbelts. He said to go to a junk yard and get some.Problem with that is, my dad says that when he was looking around at junkyards for replacement belts for another car, no one would sell him any cause of liability. He said that he went to Adavance or something and got some aftermarket alternative. So, I went there too, but they didn't have shoulder belt assemblies, only lap belts. So, does anyone have an recommendations or know of a junk yard that WILL sell seatbelt assemblies? I'm concerned for the safety of anyone who rides in that truck. Thanks!

I bought some Ford truck seat belts off ebay one time. you might want to look there. also, ride around some back roads and look for an independent shade tree mechanic/junk man. the big junkyards act like they don't want your business.

I'm convinced that a good portion the big junkyards are just there to launder money and don't do any real sales.

look for Ford Ranger forums. Car forums usually have classifieds with a shit ton of parts cars that people are willing to sell shit from. Otherwise ebay is your best bet.

Ebay has nothing right now, but I will look into some ford forums! Good thinking Thanks!

you should have good luck with that if you find the right site. my car is an '88, didn't sell anywhere near as well as a Ranger, and I can easily find seatbelts.
