im thinking about buying this hard drive:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822136003and i noticed it says a 3 year manufacturer warranty. on the wd site http://support.wdc.com/warranty/policy.asp it says its a 3 year warranty for a bulk drive "Any Non-Kitted Hard Drive sold to Authorized WD Distributors" and 1 year for a retail kit.i was just curious what non-kitted meant, and want to be sure this would apply to me.

for some reason the more expensive retail wd drives only carry a 1 yr warranty while oem drives carry a 3 yr, hope that helps.

not kitted = not retail with "kit" Meaning no manual, cables, retail box etcyou will get the 3 year warranty, and the drive will come in a sealed static bag, thats it[Edited on February 20, 2006 at 7:47 PM. Reason : .]

The retail kits come with a coupon to purchase the extended warranty.Unfortunately the quality of most any product is reflected in the length of the warranty.
