where would you start for general hell raisin? its in a police interceptor with 3.55 gears.

intake/exhaust
2/12/2006 9:59:21 PM
intake/exhaust/forced inductionif its not a pi motor convert it to one and you'll get like 300 hp w/ intake and exhaust too.
2/12/2006 10:11:04 PM
If it's an interceptor it should already have true duals, no? I suppose you could go to a freer-flowing system or mufflers though.
2/12/2006 10:30:05 PM
what year is it...if its not 99+ go w/ pi conversion you can get the stuff off ebay cheap
2/12/2006 10:35:04 PM
freer flowing mufflers won't do much if the piping is crush bent... 2 1/2" mandrel bent piping will do wonders with some mac mufflers

its a 99 PI p71 door code sticker
2/13/2006 7:13:42 PM
boost it 7-10 lbs intercooled.
2/13/2006 8:05:27 PM
^ cost effective?
2/13/2006 8:38:44 PM
the intercooler isnt cost effective, but will make 7-10 lbs feel more like 15.

The most effective?Sell it and buy an ls1.Honestly though, your best bets are the following;intake/exhaust/4.10sblower Mike

^ haha i like the first choice
2/13/2006 11:05:23 PM
ok 10-12 lbs w/ alki/water injection... its cheap and works great if you know how to use it[Edited on February 13, 2006 at 11:17 PM. Reason : .]
2/13/2006 11:14:44 PM
skip the intake and go straight for a kenne bell. 4.10s and a traction unit. and some decent exhaust for your panther.Contact Mark VII for more info.[Edited on February 14, 2006 at 3:48 PM. Reason : /]

^The power improvement heads are a little better that the previous heads. No 300 horses. A stock 4 valve moter w/ 99+ mustang heads barely puts down 300hp. The pipes are true dual but very restrictive; even more so that a mustang setup. Custom run pipe and your choice of mufflers will be the best bet. I can't say that the exhaust manifolds are/arenot a bottleneck but I'm sure they are pretty shitty.

Basically, sell the car. No, seriously though, the heads are DEFINITELY a limiting factor if they're not PI heads (which from your description, I assume they are not.) Then, exhaust. THEN A BLOWER!
2/16/2006 8:17:26 AM
look out...its stewart!
2/16/2006 11:09:08 AM
dear redneck: due to the higher compression of the non pi motor they normally make right around 300 hp when you put pi heads intake and exhaust on them. also the pi heads have better cams in them too.(non pi heads have a bigger chamber than the pi heads thus swapping them results in a higher compression ratio... somewhere around 10) but you'll also have to run premium fuel and you'll need new rods & pistons for boost.most of the people see 260-270ish at the wheels after the pi swap. more if porting is done in the process. most usually change the headers though at the same time since they have opened up the engine bay some.but i do think he has a pi motor if its a 99. sooo it doesn't matter anyway. the 4 valve motors don't make much power because their stock cams barely open the valves.those heads have so much potential its not even funny...

sparky is pretty cheap and easyto install
2/16/2006 3:49:39 PM
so we get into the RWHP, FWHP debate. I could see maybe 265 RWHP w/ PI swap pushing it through an automatic, no more.
2/16/2006 5:36:08 PM
intake exhaust timing adjuster or pulleys and a diablo sport chip. best mods for the money andeasy bold on installation
2/16/2006 8:01:04 PM
I was considering a marauder airbox and MAF and a switch chip from blue oval. I do want to make the exhaust a little deeper, but not glasspacks-on-a-z71 loud. would I be better off to buy a prebent system or have one fabbed?
2/18/2006 7:41:50 PM
just get a cutout and make it loud when you want to
