what the hell is this abouti'm half greek, but there's no way i'd ever suit up for a greek national team (not like i have the skills anyway) because i was born here and raised here -are guys like dellucci and derosa just going so they can be the premier players on the team, or do they have a genuine connection?i wonder

You have to have some sort of connection for sanctioned international play...but it can be something as simple as your grandfather being a citizen of that country. The catch is that once you play for one country, you have next to no chance of being allowed to play for another. Evgeni Nabokov played a game for Kazakhstan as a junior, and they only cleared him to play for Russia last year.

You only have to beable to obtain a passport in that country to play for that team... thats why Nomar Garciaparra is on the Mexico roster....
