is there anything you can paint onto brass that will stick. I'm trying to paint some brass things black. Regular spray paint might work, I honestly have no idea. Is there some special paint that I should use?

The surface is too smooth. If you rough up the brass with some sandpaper, you will be able to paint it, most likely.

If what you want to paint will not be getting much wear, then a couple LIGHT coats of spray paint would work good.

it will work great!! I painted our brass fan a dark green at least 3 years ago, and it still looks perfect. looks like it came that way. I didn't sand or anything. I put a coat(or 2 maybe, cant remember) of primer, then the paint. I just left the screws brass colored.

just be sure to keep the coats very light, like you will still be able to see the brass through the first coat.

it'll look better w/o sanding. Just spraypaint it.
