The comforter I have is no longer warm or comfortable. I tried to go buy a new one yesterday but like most guys that go into Bed, Bath, and Beyond I just wandered around with my thumb up my ass because I had no clue what to look for.So if anyone has recommendations for brands or types (microsuede vs. down?) that are worth dropping the money on, please post.

do you like to be warm or hot when you sleep.down is nice but i wake up sweating balls.

i prefer to not sweat my nuts off. then again i keep my apartment close to 60 degrees. so something thats typically a little warmer might work for me.

Get a Down comforter with a Duvet cover. They make different fills for down comforters. If you tend to be hot get a less dense one and if you tend to be cold get a more dense one. The nice thing about this is if you get tired of the cover, you can just buy a new duvet cover but keep the same comforter.

I've bought two down comforters in the past two years, both from Target, and both were great.I have a duvet that I take off and clean every once in a while. I've never had a problem with keeping the comforter clean (although I will find a feather here and there every once in a while).

I love a good down comforter... but a woman is best... but when you add them to together... it almost results in a tear in space-time.[Edited on February 9, 2006 at 12:14 PM. Reason : .]

both comforters I've had in college (twin for dorm, full for apartment) have been Tommy Hilfiger and I've loved themthey're a bit pricey, but I think they're worth it

i've found that spending the extra money for good bedding is worth it. i spent some money on t-shirt sheets and i sleep much better at night. that $60 bed-in-a-bag shit isn't worth it.

ive lost sex because of my down comforteryou wake up really hot and my girl never wants to put out when she is too hot

theres a nice outlet down in burlington for bed linensthey have some great deals on comforters of all kinds at decent pricesi bought a 400 tc sateen duvet cover for a friend for about $80....its awesome

get a synthetic down one, my boyfriend has a down one and some people (myself included) are extremely allergic to it...so if you plan on having people stay over, its safe to go with synthetic--plus you can wash it

apparently down is the way to go. ill look into the synthetic stuff.

I highly recommend bedding from Ralph Lauren. If you look on eBay you'll find some good deals (everydayhomeoutlet is a good eBay store for this stuff). [Edited on February 10, 2006 at 2:54 PM. Reason : common sense]

i'd check out tj maxx, marshalls, and steinmart before bb&b. prices are MUCH more reasonable imo and you get the exact same stuff. suggest lighter down (it doesn't get THAT cold in raleigh) or a synthetic down comforter (if you are allergic) and a duvet (like someone else said - a pillow case for the comforter that you can wash/buy new color or style/etc). we have just a bedspread (since we live in like the hottest place on the planet) but we do have a down mattress topper. it is like sleeping on a cloud but still having good support.

My whole bed is feathers. Feather pillows, matress, and comforter. It's like sleeping in a warm little cocoon on fluff.

I sleep w/ liek 5 blankets, but then again I sleep with my windows open

^^ & ^ Down mattress covers are the shit! My husband prefers to sleep on a harder mattress and I like a softer one. This was a good compromise for us because you get the fluffiness that I like and the support that he likes.
