why only 12 teams get to play in the big east conference tournamentthat is some bullshit
2/8/2006 11:05:33 PM
because with their 99999999999 teams, the conference tourny would be longer than the NCAA tourny
2/8/2006 11:07:15 PM
at least one solid team is going to get left out, and right now it looks like its gonna be notre dame
2/8/2006 11:08:20 PM
no it wouldn't12 teams, 4 rounds16 teams, 4 rounds[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 11:09 PM. Reason : ^exactly, ND has lost some super close games, they could very well make a run in the conf. tourney]
2/8/2006 11:08:35 PM
Notre dame is NC state that loses ALL close games.
2/8/2006 11:09:11 PM
HYPERBOLE
2/8/2006 11:09:30 PM
do you really want south florida in the tournament thoughthey are garbage, even though they made seton hall sweat tonight
2/8/2006 11:09:40 PM
replace 999999999999 with 16 and you still look like an idiotand hell yes i want USF in the tournamenteveryone gets a shotthat's what the conference tournaments are all aboutunless you're in the ivy league[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 11:10 PM. Reason : ]
2/8/2006 11:09:53 PM
so in other wordsnd is nc state before this year
2/8/2006 11:09:59 PM
why do the bottom four teams deserve to play in the conference tournament?
2/8/2006 11:10:01 PM
nd has the pre-this-year nc state luck factorwhich is negative infinity
2/8/2006 11:10:35 PM
2/8/2006 11:11:16 PM
because they've been winning games?
2/8/2006 11:11:43 PM
2/8/2006 11:12:07 PM
i'd rather not watch the bottom four teams play...why add 2 crappy games to the tournament
2/8/2006 11:13:03 PM
i don't know if you're aware that games are played on the courtnot on paperyou might wanna read up on that
2/8/2006 11:13:41 PM
don't try to lecture me about games not being played on paper you prick...teams should have to earn their way into the conference tourney...this isn't church league basketball where everyone deserves to play in the tournament just because
2/8/2006 11:15:03 PM
as far as i'm aware this whole notion of having to earn your way into the conference tournament is pretty new
2/8/2006 11:16:12 PM
i never claimed it to be a historic fact...16 team conferences havent been around that long either[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 11:19 PM. Reason : ]
2/8/2006 11:19:17 PM
^^ just as new as a 16 team conference, funny how that worked out[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 11:19 PM. Reason : .]
2/8/2006 11:19:21 PM
so more than likely i see the current BE breaking up a little. mainly the non-football teams will leave the conference to either form their own conference or join another one. i'd like to hear how others see which teams might leave.
2/8/2006 11:19:52 PM
They don't want their top teams playing 4 games when top teams from other conferences only play 3.
2/8/2006 11:20:57 PM
^^well some teams just realigned to the big east so don't expect it anytime soon[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 11:21 PM. Reason : ]
2/8/2006 11:21:01 PM
2/8/2006 11:21:07 PM
I agree with Ernie even though he called me an idiot. Especially since all of the Big East teams don't even play each other in a season.
2/8/2006 11:21:54 PM
the big east just became a huge conference....you asked why 12 teams i told you why i thought 12 teams...don't get defensive just cause you didn't like my answer
2/8/2006 11:21:58 PM
every conference should exclude teams imo
2/8/2006 11:23:07 PM
that is fucking stupidlets just have a BCS for basketball too
2/8/2006 11:23:56 PM
what does that have to do with the BCS these are conference tournies we're talking about not the NCAA tourney...why should crappy teams deserve to play in their conference tourney...it should be earned not handed to them
2/8/2006 11:25:15 PM
because upsets are excitingeveryone deserves a shot when it comes to the conference tourneysthe first person to put words in my mouth and say the NCAA tournament should be expanded to 340 teams is a fag
2/8/2006 11:26:42 PM
if they want a shot at the conference tourney they can get it...don't continually be one of the worst teams in the conference during the season
2/8/2006 11:27:57 PM
you can keep rewording that same sentence but its still stupid
2/8/2006 11:29:00 PM
also not new; top teams in conference getting a bye in the first round and/or the worst teams having to play an extra game AKA "play in game." With a 16 team conference, the number 1 team would have to play just as many as the number 16 team, thus no reward for finishing on top. Don't say give the first two a bye and the last two a play in or anything of that variety, then you're looking at a week long conference championship. The BE handled it fine to me.
2/8/2006 11:29:44 PM
i agree with the fact that its unfair for the #1 seed to play the same number of games as the #16 seedeveryone deserves a shot, but not necessarily an even shotthe top seeds should get a bye, but there should be someway to let all 16 teams in
2/8/2006 11:32:06 PM
it's gonna be heartbreaking for me not to see 6-16 usf and 9-12 depaul not get their chance to be blown out in the first round...earning their way in aside, ultimately i think the real reason they don't allow all 16 is...
2/8/2006 11:33:04 PM
thanks for repeating what the points i just agreed withoh, and
2/8/2006 11:34:31 PM
^yea i wrote my post while those were posted and didn't see em
2/8/2006 11:36:57 PM
WTFyou're telling me a one in a million USF upset of UConn wouldn't be excitingthat's the whole point of my threadif you don't get that, then you need to just stop replying
2/8/2006 11:39:18 PM
that would be exciting when it happens once every 20 years i'll give that to ya but is it worth making the reg season conf. champ play 4 games to win their conference tourney just for the chance to see a one in a million upset
2/8/2006 11:43:49 PM
if i didn't think it was worth it, would i have made this threadyou're running circles around yourself, buddy
2/8/2006 11:47:35 PM
ok well you keep hoping. as for everyone else they'll come to their senses and continue to play a 12 team tourney
2/8/2006 11:49:17 PM
everyone else?the atlantic 10 (oddly enough) is the only other D1 conference with more than 12 teams
2/8/2006 11:51:57 PM
2/8/2006 11:56:34 PM
^ what he said
2/9/2006 1:28:20 AM
2/9/2006 4:50:34 PM
I find it ridiculous that members of a conference are snubbed like that. Sure there is the argument you have to win your games, but in large conferences, not every team plays the entire conference. That causes the win-loss records to be skewed. Conference tournaments should involve ever team from the conference.
2/9/2006 4:54:57 PM
bingounless you're playing a true home and home schedule with everyone in the conference, regular season records are bunk
2/9/2006 6:15:45 PM
if there is a way to work it out so the best teams don't have to play 4 games, then finequiet guy had a good point:
