Was making lunch in the kitchen today and it occured to me to post this question. What is your favorite way to make pasta? Some people just like the noodles themselves with butter, and other people I know get all iron chef with that shit. I'm sure that almost everyone does it a little different, and it'd be cool to see how everyone else does it. Example: I usually prefer Penne, and I'll boil a cup or two of it in some salted water. For sauce I use Prego Traditional. Usually, I'll get a roll of Jimmy Dean Sage flavored sausage, break it up into small crumbs and brown it in a skillet. Once brown, I'll drain the grease out, then pour in one jar of the Prego. I'll add a little bit of oregano and basil, then turn the heat down and cover. Then I'll just let it simmer til the pasta is done. Drain the pasta, put some on a plate, cover with sauce, dust with parm cheese, and grab a big glass of milk. That shit is yummy.[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 6:29 PM. Reason : .]

cheap gemeli and sun-dried tomato alfredo sauce - 2 boxes and a bottle of sauce lasts for a week of dinners for around 6 bucks

pasta in water, hot italian sausage on the frying pan, straight tomato sauce simmering, and I season with salt/pepper, garlic, parsley, whatever sounds good. Once the sausage is good, put it in the sauce and simmer until the pasta is done...DELICIOUS

I had it with ground venison sauce last night. I didn't realize it until the chef told me I was eating Bambi. I would eat it again though. It had a nice flavor with the spices and tomatoes.

boil some tortellini, cook a couple chicken breasts on the george foreman, dice up the chicken and throw them together in a bowl with some marinara sauce. it's fantastic.

I make my own alfredo sauce (cream, parmesean cheese, a little salt and pepper) and use that over fettucini or spaghetti. For tomato based sauce I use Classico fire roasted tomato and garlic and add in ground turkey.

my friend makes pasta the best way ever.He calls it chickie alfredo. Get some fettucinie, cook it al dente (I think that's what it's called), cook the chicken in your favorite wine with lots of garlid and parsley.... then put the alfredo in a pot and mix a lot of garlic in it and shred like half a cup of cheese.... mix all of it together, then sprinkle some more cheese on top (We're talking cheddar or something like that).... mmmm.... so good... i thought i wouldn't like it... but, so good.

I often just boil pasta in water + salt, then add stuff like green peppers and diced tomatoes to pasta sauce.

I like to make a semi-fresh sauce...that is use a base tomato sauce and add in a lot of fresh veggies and serve it with a grilled chicked breast done in some sort of flavoring (i like a garlic rub with some other spices tossed in to flavor)

Sometimes if I'm in the mood for something light and spicy:Cook a couple cups of pasta (either penne or the spiral stuff) in some salted water and drain. In a frying pan, heat about 4 or 5 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, throw in a couple of tablespoons of garlic and a tablespoon or two of crushed red pepper flakes (the hot ones). Stir that all in the olive oil for about 20 seconds, then pour in the pasta and toss it around so the oil, gairlic, and pepper flakes get all over everything. Serve on plate with a bunch of parm cheese. It's hot, but really good, and pretty good for you. Variations are to forman some chicken and cut it into pieces, throw it in when you throw the noodles in. Veggies like spinach are really good too.

^mmm, that sounds good. and yeah, fresh spinach is really good cooked/sauted very shortly and tossed w/pasta. i'm a fan of pesto, too. actually, a friend of mine fixed some pasta and i think she said she used classico pesto, and it was really good.i made some 'cilantro pesto' last week and tossed it with chicken and pasta, and probably some veggies, and it was good.
