Are there any flower ordering places online that don't charge you out of your ass for shipping? I've looked at proflowers.com and 1800flowers.com and both of them charge you almost as much (if not more) than the flowers cost for shipping. Is it cheaper to just go to a local florist rather than going online?

At this point, pretty much.

2 weeks ago ProFlowers.com had TWO DOZEN red roses + a vase for $29.99 + $10 shipping, and you could select Valentine's Day as the delivery date.

Now, of course, the price of that same order is $49.99 + a crapload for shipping delivered on Valentine's Day.

So yeah, if you've waited until now, just suck it up and go to a florist. People know Valentine's Day is on the 14th of Feb...why we wait around baffles me.

nah, its not for valentines day...its for my mom's birthday. With her b-day being on a Saturday, they charge me $10 extra for delivery.

my bad on assuming it was Valentine's Day

but yeah, anytime around Valentine's Day the delivery prices (and rose prices) go up.

Be sure to check bensbargains.net (search for "flowers" there) as I think there's a few 15% off coupons or something floating around to ease the sting a bit

you could also go online to 1800 flowers or FTD and find what you want to get, then go to the store locator and find the nearest one on their list to the place of delivery. then just call them on the phone personally and tell them what kind of arrangement you want. its pretty simple and i think you save some bank by not doing it through the internet
