http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22348Hey folks, Harry here... On the tip toppest level of holy shit coolosity is Genndy Tartakovsky directing THE POWER OF THE DARK CRYSTAL... with Brian Froud back to design new characters... brought to life through amazing puppets and CG backgrounds ("like SIN CITY" and the forthcoming 300). The fucking creator of SAMURAI JACK and the best STAR WARS anything, possibly ever. (Yeah yeah, but I don't know about you, but I have compulsively been watching the CLONE WARS part 1 & 2 dvds like animated crack for a very long time now. They've become comfort cinematic confections. I can't get enough. And I desperately have wanted Genndy to expand the scope of his immense cinematic prowess from Cartoon Network to the big screen. I never dreamt that he'd do so with one of my all time drooling faves. Production is supposed to begin late this summer, pre-production is already busy as hell... and how much do we all want to see those new Brian Froud character designs... like the Fire Girl that steals the Crystal to use it's power to help reignite the dying sun around their planet. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT LOOK LIKE? ReIgnite a Dying Sun with part of the Dark Crystal? Does Aughra have a rocket ship that runs on shroom power? This is absolutely one of the top projects in the world I'm now anticipating. Variety deserves the credit for the scoop. But I don't know about you, but this is one I'll be dream fasting about till it comes out!http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460907/augrah approves!variety website seems to be screwy but here's the link to the articlehttp://tinyurl.com/b2laf[Edited on February 7, 2006 at 2:28 PM. good call man... I LOVE The Dark Crystal. I never picked up the DVD but I have definitely worn out the VHS I bought years ago. I remember a few years ago they had Dark Crystal on the Hallmark Channel. To say the least it was the one and only time I ever watched the Hallmark Channel.

I'd tell you how many times I watched this movie as a kid, but i couldn't count high enough then. my grandma had a videotape of it and I wore the shit out of it. She ended up having to buy a new copy. my god, do I love this moviemy worry is that cgi will be the big thing instead of muppets. the muppets are what gave movies like this and labrynth that creepy edge.so far it sounds ok:

Having a big team of builders and creators putting their heart and soul into a project requires a lot of collective thought. That's why all the old puppet movies were nearly perfect. You don't commit 4-5 years of design and building and then sit back later and think.."hmmm what a fucking catastrophe!"[Edited on February 7, 2006 at 2:42 PM. Reason : asdf]
