My sister will be having a baby in a few months and is interested in finding an affordable video camera. She wants to stay in the <$500 range and I'm sure the amount of editting she's going to do is minimal. The most she'll want to do is make a DVD or transfer them to the PC.

Give me some advice - what's the best format in this price range? best brands? Any help would be appreciated.
