Gerber will be in net for Switzerland, Kaberle will play for the Czech team, and our old pal Arturs Irbe will be back on team Latvia. Should be very exciting, I think our boys can make a run at a medal. [Edited on February 7, 2006 at 3:21 AM. Reason : better?]

Chop out that picture of Esche, you're gonna jinx the whole team. Also, despite my fears about being labelled a traitor, I hope Archie gets a ______ against the US.
2/7/2006 3:06:28 AM
bttt Wednesday, USA vs Latvia. Is Irbe their #1 goalie?
2/13/2006 1:04:50 PM
Yes
2/13/2006 1:15:44 PM
Watching Ilya, Ovechkin, and Datsyuk playing together will be awesome.
2/13/2006 2:11:42 PM
I think we should start a cold war against Canada real quick, then if we beat them it'll be like it was in 80 when we beat russia
2/13/2006 2:34:53 PM
sporting news say the Czechs are the favorite for gold. They have a solid roster with Jagr leading the way.I believe its going to be a tight tight race for the medal roundsgood luck usa!

2/13/2006 3:28:02 PM
33/1cole is about the same odds to lead the whole thing in scoring, hahausa is 3/1, should be bigger odds than that
2/13/2006 3:36:33 PM
^Americans are such degenerate gamblers that Vegas knows they can give US crap odds and still get action.
2/13/2006 3:59:24 PM
Kazakhstan is 150-1 to win group B haha
2/13/2006 11:27:17 PM
DON'T FORGET WHO THE US COACH IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2/13/2006 11:28:58 PM
WHY CAN'T I BET ON LATVIA BEATING RUSSIA?
2/14/2006 12:51:27 AM
just flipped it on, but Gerber appears to be getting owned. He is reppin the Canes helmet though.
2/15/2006 10:43:59 AM
IRBE HAS NEVER EVER LOST TO RUSSIA, EVER. Whether it be tanks or pucks, Irbe says NO!
2/15/2006 11:15:51 AM
wtf is gerber wearing his canes helmet for

My quick take on the game..- We looked tired at times on the bigger rink. The travel problems are well documented and I'm sure the legs will come with a full nights rest. Look for a much crisper, quicker game tomorrow.- The Gionta/Gomez line was our best line. Gionta is small but he is very strong/quick. It helps knowing each others tendencies of course being on the same line in Jersey too..- Best player in my opinion was Eric Cole. Good backchecking, obviously very fast, and not too bad distributing today.- Modano looked old and uninspired.- Ryan Miller should be between the pipes, not back in America. (though Graeme was fairly sharp though).- Doc and JD are the best combo in sports to announce games.Thoughts?
2/15/2006 6:40:34 PM
ryam miller is probably the best goaltender in the league...so his not being in turino is rather surprisingmodano probably has jet lagKAZAKHSTAN A rag-tag national team led by Toronto's Nikolai Antropov, with help from Dmitriy Upper, Dimitriy Dudarev and Andrei Ogrodnikov, Kazakhstan managed just five goals in six games during the World Championships, so they'll be overmatched in most games. Vitaly Kolesnik, who got a cup of coffee with the Colorado Avalanche this season, will see plenty of rubber in goal. [b[Edited on February 15, 2006 at 8:14 PM. Reason : this is funny]

btttsame time tomorrow, we SHOULD be able to get it together during this game. And by that, I mean the team will get familiar with each other and come into form. We should win this game by 5 goals. Irbe was looking rediculous between the pipes today, you can definitely feel his Latvian pride. I have met him a couple times and he is a great guy, he definitely deserves all the praise and talking up he has been given today.[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 1:26 AM. Reason : holla]
2/16/2006 1:25:05 AM
On NBC now vs Slovakia, holla
2/18/2006 3:02:41 PM
1-0 Slovakia (Hossa from Demitra)
2/18/2006 3:16:17 PM
GOAL! Raulston scores and it's tied 1-1 going into the third
2/18/2006 3:26:56 PM
That shit was old school, straight out of the Mighty Ducks!
2/18/2006 3:29:41 PM
Anyone who bets on the USA to win the gold medal at 3:1 is retarded.Canada is almost 2:1 for gods sake....Iv'e got $606 to win $43 on the USA NOT to win the gold...I'm not sleeping on them though... theyve got some talent if they come together. Hopefully they can pull it out.
2/18/2006 3:39:14 PM
Who won it today? I watched a lot of it, but was waiting for the speed skating. [Edited on February 18, 2006 at 5:08 PM. Reason : I swear I think I have edited every post today because of this stupid keyboard!]
2/18/2006 5:08:12 PM
Slovakia beat USA 2-1 today
2/18/2006 5:10:56 PM
Man, this is good stuff. Lundy and DiPietro are both on their games.. 1-1 after 2.We need a tie or a win to move into the medal round for sure but I'd like to take 2 and 2 the next couple of days so we don't face Canada in the quarters.. I'd love to face the Swiss personally..
2/19/2006 12:33:42 PM
I don't think it will be Canada regardless, although it is still possible. Finland should finish first in Group A unless they get upset by the Germans on Tuesday. It will probably be USA vs. Finland or vs. Switzerland in the quarters. I guess you never know what could happen, though, in this tournament. There have been some big surprises already.
2/19/2006 12:43:34 PM
yeah its pretty wide open
2/19/2006 12:53:20 PM

The so-called top 8 teams in the world have at least changed as Switzerland (2-1-1) have powered by Germany (0-2-2). Germans have been terrible this time around.
2/20/2006 10:48:47 AM
In the ultimate case of backing in, the USA (1-2-1) qualifies for the quarterfinals when Kazakhstan (1-4) defeat Latvia (0-4-1). So after facing Russia today, bring on Finland...

ERIK COLE FOR THE TIE[Edited on February 21, 2006 at 4:33 PM. Reason : K durr]
2/21/2006 4:33:25 PM
Down 1-0 to Finland in the quarterfinals (on USA). Laviolette called his timeout less than ten minutes in; he is not very happy.
2/22/2006 11:53:20 AM
Make that 2-0. Shorthanded goal by Sami Salo.
