The crank pulley bolt is indeed the biggest problem with doing a lefty Honda engine. The newer ones have a provision for a spanner wrench inside the crank pulley, but not a whole lot of us have one. I still haven't gotten one, and I've had more than a few opportunities to use it.Either that or a chain wrench or strap wrench. But you have to be careful not to mar the pulley.I've had a few instances when neither of my impact guns would break it loose, not even when I stuck my thumb on the compressor's pressure cutoff switch and jacked 'er up until the safety valve popped off. And not even with my buddy's Snap On gun that would do 625 ft-lbs in reverse.I don't have access to a 3/4 gun YET. But I may get one. The big priority right now is the spanner wrench (well, it's not really a spanner, more like a holer).

You just need to make you one of these for $13 from Lowes. Gotta drop the eninge a few inches by loosening the engine mount.

you can always put a long breaker bar on it against the frame and crank it.

Not on a Honda. Spins the wrong way.^^I thought that was a damned good idea. Ugly, but highly functional.[Edited on February 6, 2006 at 9:19 PM. Reason : doo doo]

Of course you have to keep the reducing bushing from spinning. When loosening the crank bolt it will tighten the fittings but you'd need to weld it or drill out several holes to secure it when tightening the bolt.

That's what I have a welder for!
