but you have 2 weeks vacation with the current one. would you be evil for saying "here's my 2 week notice, i'm going on vacation?"

Read your policy manual.... I would get paid any un-used vacation time for that year even If I worked the 2 weeks......I'd never leave them in a bind though..... One of those "don't burn bridges" things

I would definately not be an ass about itthe next job might not pay off so you could have to look again. you pissed them off now you might as well remove them from the resume

yeah, you can generally get paid out for unused time, or your just push your last day to 4 weeks out with taking the last two weeks as "vacation"

There's a cartoon I want to link here, but I can't find it .."Yes, you are indispensable ... but only at your present salary."

if youve been awarded vacation, having met the criteria (ie length of employment) you are generally due the vacation or the amount of pay upon termination of employment,.however, some companies will not pay you the vacation accrued if you quit without notice.you should give at least two weeks to wrap things up and train a replacement as needed, otherwise youre screwing yourself out of a good reference.

By NC law, all wages must be paid to a separated employee on or before the next scheduled paydate after separation. Wages in NC include accrued vacation, sick and personal days (PTO). The exception to this your company has a policy covering vacation pay, sick pay, bonuses, etc. and policy specifically provides for the forfeiture of such benefits upon termination.]

a note on "accrued vacation" - if you quit 1/4 of the way through the year, you're probably only entitled to 1/4 of that vacation as paid
