I haven't really looked into but I did read something about a few weeks ago... is it just a basic expansion of the single player? Is it just from Alex's point of view?I heard that they were releasing it in short "episodes" that only take 2-3 hrs to beat or something like that.
5/31/2006 3:15:41 PM
It took them over 5 years to get HL2 out after HL1. They decided that the abount of time to completely revamp a system to release a new game takes to damn long. So they are going to release shorter "episodic" games that continue the original storyline but dont take nearly as long to make. And as they go, they are introducing new technology to the engine, making the game look better. An example is the high dynamic range lighting they have added since HL2 came out, which you can see in HL2:Lost Coast.Episode 1:Aftermath will be about 4-5 hours from what I hear with the focus being on the fact that you have Alyx by your side almost the entire time. Her AI is revamped and she will do more to help the fight other than shootmight be longer,~9-10 hours??? I love the game for the intro and the ends. The parts that deal with G-man and the point of Gordan[Edited on May 31, 2006 at 3:41 PM. Reason : 9-]

I might get this, but I am definitely overdue for replaying HL2.
5/31/2006 4:24:38 PM
I got a system upgrade which warrented playing through HL2 with max settings I hope Episode 1 has more puzzles ala HL1
5/31/2006 4:29:29 PM
i give a shitbut my computer won't be able to handle this game
5/31/2006 10:04:07 PM
Well I checked this morning before work to see if I could at least watch the intro before work. But sadly it hasnt been made "officially released" so I guess I gotta wait until I get home this evening. I think today is June 1st. I could be mistaken though

yawn some more bullshit put out by valve to placate fanboys and at the same time "introduce" new "dynamic" lighting...what a joke.Lets call a spade a spade, its an expansion pack, nothing more.

wow, that menu screen is amazing.i might have to buy this.
6/2/2006 12:14:47 AM
Game has 4 chapters. I dont remember how many HL2 had. Might show how long the game is, but I am not sure if each chapter is as large as the chapters were in HL2, or if each chapter is the same length.

My download is at 61%.I had no business buying this. I have no money. But a man has to make a stand somewhere, and Half-Life is it.
6/2/2006 4:47:21 PM
Ok I was wrong, there are 6 chapters NOT four. I looked at it wrong. And HL2 might be the best game I have ever played. So anything that extends said game is automatically bought IMHO[Edited on June 2, 2006 at 5:21 PM. Reason : ds]

HL2 was just amazing. Stunning. I am not really into games much anymore aside from sports games but it blew my fucking mind. Loved the music the most.
6/3/2006 3:13:03 AM
HL2 took a day to play through, and the ending sucked ass.It was not worth waiting for with baited-breath for 5+ years.
6/3/2006 10:14:55 AM
fuck that, HL2 was amazing, as was the ending.
6/3/2006 12:33:56 PM
Its the bar that everything else cant reach.I look at every other game in its genre and compare it to what HL2 does better.
6/3/2006 12:47:38 PM
OK, I beat the game.Ending is kewl but you need to WAIT FOR IT TO LOAD THE EPISODE 2 PREVEIW. Give it a couple seconds after the end credits. As for the episode 2 preview. I must say ¯\(º_o)/¯I am definatly going threw the game with the commentary mode on. Already been told some kewl shit[Edited on June 3, 2006 at 2:18 PM. Reason : sdf]

pretty short, beat it in a nightit was pretty cool though, zombie fights are much much better
6/3/2006 2:18:30 PM
A day? As in 12+ waking hours? Thats possibly the longest FPS ive ever heard of.

Took me approximatly 20+ hours to beat HL2. Prolly cause I took my time and I like to explore the enviornments in detail to make sure I didnt miss any kewl objects/scenes. In the commentary mode they make some interesting discussion about how hard it was to make new puzzles in the Citadel for episode 1 due to the constraints of the enviornment as well as the limitation of only having the gravity gun. If they added an entire tool/enviornmental aspect that you never saw in HL2 it would be like "Well they added this just to throw some new puzzles at you."How about those new enemies in the EP2 preview? I love how alien the look but still look anatomically possible. And they are fast, I was impressed by how much that disturbed me to have a fast enemy like that. Everything in HL2 is slow or in the air. The striders are predictable and cant really ever get near you. These things however make me wonder what weapon would you use against them with such limited time from when they see you to when they kill you[Edited on June 3, 2006 at 3:11 PM. Reason : sd]
6/3/2006 3:05:36 PM
those zombies were pretty fucking fast
6/3/2006 9:39:26 PM
EP2 preview? where?
6/3/2006 10:20:39 PM
^^But they arnt big or that tough. These things look like it would take alot to kill em.^At the end of episode 1. Its supposed to come out by the end of the year. So only ~6 months or so [Edited on June 4, 2006 at 9:42 AM. Reason : xcvxcvx]

I forgot about this until recently. One of the things I loved about HL1 was that when you were in a radioactive area, you had that giger counter(sp?) that clicked with the radiation. You are reintroduced to that when your in the reactor in Episode 1. I had major nastaljia(sp?)!1
6/13/2006 9:37:53 AM
I'm pretty sure the geiger counter clicked in regular HL2 as well.
6/13/2006 10:37:45 AM
^it did
6/13/2006 4:10:34 PM
where??!??!??!Only radiation I remember was from the canal sequence, and that was brief.

Playing through HL2 for the third time then gonna take advantage of that $8 Ep. 1 deal at Circuit City. HL2 is the only game I've ever wanted to play through single player more than once or twice.
