doing vegas thurs->sun this upcoming week - i've only been before when i was 18 with the family - i'm willing to bet this trip will be better

what are you trying to accomplish - just gambling or whole experience (if it's not merely gambling vegas)

Vegas >>>>>> AC

Vegas has tons of stuff to do

AC has a crappy beach, crime, and nothing else but gambling

well, i know it would probably just be me and a buddy, and we'd be all about some poker. But more of an experience would be even better. It's my last spring break, and the group I was going to go with is going to do a huge trip I think and I can't afford a huge trip. Which is why I was thinking probably only about a 4 day trip, not a week long thing...

Vegas is better, I just came back from a.c it's a wild place, but nothing like fucking vegas, if you do go to atlantic camp out at the borgata and bring 3000 bux, the shit will rob you with it's prices, and I don't know if vegas is any cheaper.

Been to both, prefer vegas. AC serves beer in cups, Vegas you get bottles.

AC was not too bad.

well ok, let me ask this. How much would a trip over SB cost in Vegas? We would like to gamble some, but that wouldn't be the main reason for going. Also, I have absolutely no problem playing the lowest limit games out there.

Like I said, probably a 3 night-4 day trip.

AC is boring. Ive never been to Vegas, but vegas seems to have way more to offer as far as hookers and entertainment goes. on that note im going to vegas in march

i haven't been to vegas, but went to AC this past august for a bachelor party. it was pretty damn fun, but i can imagine vegas is MUCH better. as for if the fun per dollar spent ratio is better, i don't really know. we got out pretty damn cheap in AC. stayed at the hojo which is just down from the tropicana. old ass place but it was cheap and fairly clean. plus we got some free money for gambling at the trop and some free meals. borgata is cool, but it's really seperated from everything else. imo, the tropicana is almost as cool and it's right there on the main strip. i'd go back again, but i'm going to vegas first.

for spring break, if you can afford it i'd go for vegas all the way since you've got a whole week. AC can easily be done over a long weekend.

You can probably get a plane ticket for 250-300 to Vegas. If you stay downtown, it'll be cheap, particularly during the week, and thats where the lowest limit games are (aside from those places off the strip).

^^if that's correct for the plane ticket, you can about finance a 3-4 day weekend in AC for that including the drive up and lodging at a cheaper place on the main strip. not including gambling, food, alchohol, etc. not saying that makes it the better choice at all, just fyi.

Well a flight on southwest to philly and then the NJ transit train to AC would be the best way to get there. Driving there is a total bitch, but road trips are always fun.

so what kind of deals should I look at? what flights would be best?

I've never really planned a big trip before, and granted this isn't anything huge, I just want to save as much money as possible so I can spend it later when I get over there

well, i found a pretty good deal that would put us at the Golden Nugget, but I know that's not on the strip and we would definitely want to get over there to see all of the big casinos. How hard is it to get from downtown to the strip? I google maped it and it put it at about 6 miles away (from golden nugget to the Bellagio). Is public transportation an option? Are cabs really expensive? I've actually never been anywhere that's required me to get a cab, so I really don't know much about that.

Anyway, any information would be helpful, I've been searching for reviews and trying to base it on that, but there was no way we could afford a place on the strip for 3 nights (at least $150 more expensive).

cabs arent bad, but theyll add up.

theres a bus but it sucks.

[Edited on February 8, 2006 at 11:32 AM. Reason : ask the cab driver to see his hooker card collection.]

i would look at staying at the flamingo, good clean hotel for really cheap, right in the middle of the northern strip(bellagio, ceasars, ballys, paris, ti, wynn, venetian).....the extra 5-10 bucks a night would negate your cab fare to get to the strip plus it's a much better place to be

If you do go to vegas, definitely get an all day tram pass. It is the easiest way to get up and down the whole strip. All of the free shows are badass, too. Get there early for the Treasure Island show, it is totally worth the wait.

I saw rates at the Frontier two weeks ago for $30/night. And that's at the base of the strip, you'll be close to the Wynn, which was the most profitible casino for me. For cheap rates check: Frontier, Stardust, Circus Circus, Riviera, Sahara and Tropicana. Or even Imperial Palace.

There are penny slots and quarter video poker if you want to keep it cheap. Dudes will ALWAYS pay to get into clubs/bars unless you know someone in the industry.

Vegas is a much better trip and makes it easy to save money if you end up spending too much early on. There's the strip + Freemont St. Experience (Which is where Golden Nugget is).

Sign up for airfare alerts. Two days ago there was a round trip fare for 150 round trip from Atlanta. Be prepared to book when you see it, it goes like lightning.

hahah you've got to be kidding. The Siren show is the saddest thing on the strip. And that includes the cocktail waitresses at Excalibur.
