i bet these films suck anyhow
2/2/2006 12:57:15 PM
There are plenty of shitty independent releases, but IFC tends to put out some good films.
2/2/2006 1:01:41 PM
you'll be finewhat's the stats on independent films these days- 93% of them suck? or is it 94
2/2/2006 1:06:04 PM
I'd say it's about the same as mainstream movies. About 90%.The difference is that the super shitty independent movies rarely go anywhere outside of New York and LA, while Big Mama's House 2 becomes the number 1 film in the country.

I don't want to put words in teh footmouthbut it's supposed to be really funny.
2/2/2006 1:53:29 PM
good heavens that looks stupid.basically his idea isnt "what if the confederates won?", but "what if we still had slavery?"because if the south had won, we would not still have slavery. i also dont understand why he suggests all the states became the CSA. if the confederates won, they wouldnt have taken over all the states in the union. they woulda just won the right to be independent.i guess if you have a camera, you dont have to make sense.^if its a comedy, than i take it back. you can do whatever you want to get laughs. i could see how it would be trying to get laughs, but i didnt think of spike lee making a pure comedy.[Edited on February 2, 2006 at 1:55 PM. 2/2/2006 1:54:03 PM
yeah, but an over hour long joke would get boring

2/2/2006 1:56:02 PM
one guy's opinion i guessi guess i'll have to make a film where there wasn't a civil war at all
2/2/2006 1:59:24 PM
and you can assume we were taken over by asian immigrants who enslaved the american population. its a comedy!
2/2/2006 2:00:10 PM
Keep in mind, too, that Spike Lee's involvement is an an executive producer, i.e. his input into the film was getting his name tacked on the poster.

good pointkinda like seemingly 20 movies a year have tarantino plastered all over em despite the fact he didnt direct em.[Edited on February 2, 2006 at 3:28 PM. Reason : .]

^^ Mark Cuban's (the movie's producer) theater chain was the main exhibitor for the film. He owns the HDNet rights, and he basically built a DVD production company to make the product.i.e. outside of Landmark Cinemas (I think that's what they're called), the exhibitors didn't get a dime. Bubble still did pretty well, though, so I'm not complaining.

Ah, I gotcha. I don't know off the top of my head what we're paying on it. I'll look into it, though.
