if so, whatchoo got and where do you go? I keep my bike in the garage so this is relevant Garage material I have an '05 Specialized Rockhopper w/ a RS Reba fork, and Avid BB7 disc brakes. holler.
2/2/2006 11:34:46 AM
I've got a 01 Giant XTC with some Manitou fork (SX maybe?.) Cheap discs on the front and Avids in the rear.I'd like to get a stiffer frame though. Cheap aluminum flexes like a motherfucker with someone my size riding it.
2/2/2006 11:36:54 AM
word. yeh i dunno what kind of aluminum it is, but this rockhopper frame is pretty stout. its a 21" too. i'm 6'4ishi like Harris and beaver dam the best so far. crabtree is kinda boring, but rocky road is pretty cool. any good trail suggestions?
2/2/2006 12:08:07 PM
I used to have a murray flexor
2/2/2006 12:18:04 PM
i have the base 05 rockhopper, i dont ride much around here, but at home I go to Tsali alot
2/2/2006 12:20:37 PM
I'm 6'1 and ride a 17.5" frame, but I came from BMX bikes so I like the smaller frames. My bike has been little more than a street cruiser for the past year. New Light is nice, but it is supposed to be closed right now. You should be able to find trail info at http://www.trianglemtb.com/.
2/2/2006 12:21:31 PM
currently, just a specialized P1....more of just a play bikeive had or riden damn near everything under the sun
2/2/2006 12:43:02 PM
road bike > mtn bikeat least for my fat assLESS ROLLING RESISTANCE IS MY FRIENDbut really, when i bought a road bike, it was like riding a bike for the first time - fun-wisei've still got an old gt pantera with manitou 5 shocks
2/2/2006 1:06:27 PM
Road bikes scare me. Fast speeds,110 psi skinny tires, sketchy steering (them skinny handlebars), being all hunched over which puts your teef that much closer to the road if you go over the bars. Skack doesn't like.[Edited on February 2, 2006 at 1:17 PM. Reason : s]

2/2/2006 1:32:57 PM
I have an '05 Trek 4500...hydraulic disc brakes, eggbeater pedals...I love it. Around here I ride Crabtree, Umstead, Lake Johnson (not much fun though), and a place out in Garner. If you really want some nice trails though, go to Pisgah. I spent a weekend biking in Pisgah in November. 30+ miles a day. Beautiful trail, but hard as fuck. It was awesome.
2/2/2006 1:39:46 PM
'05 Fisher Supercaliber two-niner stock other than egg beaters and chris king HSA hand me down heavy ass road frame that was converted to a fixed gear about 20yrs ago.A 95 fisher 6061 frame w/ 96 specialized judy FSX. It was my first CC racing bike started as a 91 Fisher Montare with bent seat tube and elevated chainstays(only ~15"). Only thing original is the seatpost QR and Deore DX cranks.Hoping to pick up another geared road bike by the end of the year.

I ride my raleigh haha. not the best, but it gets the job done.[Edited on February 2, 2006 at 1:50 PM. Reason : .]
2/2/2006 1:49:19 PM
a pimpin gt outpost from like 98 or something. stock except for some yetti grips and dart tires. beat to hell from numerous wrecks and sitting outside. weighs a ton, but it would do some sweet jumps in the brickyard. if i ever get another, it'll be a road bike.
2/2/2006 2:00:15 PM
whoayou can put disc brakes on a bicycle? When did this happen? last bike I had was a 16 speed Giant mountain bike when I was 10
2/2/2006 2:06:07 PM

2/2/2006 2:07:40 PM
Klein Adept Profull xtr, rapid rise, chris king head, fox front and rear, time attacsHow often do you kids ride?
2/2/2006 2:15:33 PM
^ Nice. I've been a big fan of Klein since the mid-90's. I don't really care for full suspension bikes tho.
2/2/2006 3:03:57 PM
I'm a big fan of New Light as well, I don't go out to the exotic trails much, end up hitting Harris Lake most often even though it's easily the most boring one of the least challanging trails around here.Ahmet
2/2/2006 3:19:38 PM
i have an '02 Gary Fisher Sugar......looking for a roadbike 52-54", anyone selling?
2/2/2006 3:44:07 PM

2/2/2006 3:55:25 PM
Absolutely, infact I'll probably get out late afternoon tomorrow, the weather's supposed to be beautiful.Ahmet
2/2/2006 4:21:01 PM
I wish I didn't have class till 3:50 or I'd go tomorrow
2/2/2006 4:41:53 PM
2/2/2006 4:49:07 PM
That's what time I get out, I plan to go. I mean it's almost 5pm now, and it's not dark, OR cold... So why not?Ahmet
2/2/2006 4:49:47 PM

2/2/2006 5:00:19 PM
im down w/ beaver dam.i just did the 13 miles umstead loop as fast as i could for exercise. thats a bitch in places.I'M READY FOR ANYTHING, ROAR.
2/2/2006 5:13:32 PM
I went a couple of weeks ago, I usually do beginner/intermediate on my way in, and spend most of my time in advanced and expert. I don't know the technical names for any of the stuff, the expert portion is fun, I'd like to be in better shape but hey.I'd do beaver dam, or rocky road tomorrow, (ok to go around 4?) anybody wanna give me directions to either of those?ThanksAhmet
2/2/2006 5:20:42 PM
You can't get out of class at 3:50 and get to beaver dam in time to do any real riding. I'd suggest crabtree or rocky road. It doesn't matter to me, I'm down for either.
2/2/2006 5:37:28 PM
umm i ride a p2. w/ nothing stock on it cept the cranks handle bars & stem.it has been single speeded with a 1/2 link bmx chain, big ole marzzochi z1 freeride & stronger wheels hubs etc.. all told i have a 40lb 14" frame with no gears.
2/2/2006 5:42:07 PM
i'm up for it, someone establish a mailing list.
2/2/2006 5:45:52 PM
My '94 Rockhopper FS is back up & running... it's been handy for my 1ΒΌ commute until I switch jobs
2/2/2006 5:50:55 PM
^^bwah. sounds like my roommate's bike. its so awesome he can't ride it... physically
2/2/2006 5:51:18 PM
i can ride it and on a 5 mile trail i'll beat about everyones ass.... then i'll die cause my legs lock up.i was on the bike racing team here and in the dclass i would be ahead of the a/b class people when i finished but if i went one or 2 more laps i'd fucking collapse.(not to mention i'm a pretty big dude alot of upper body mass thats useful for the jumps/drops/tricks i do but really fuck you when it comes to trail riding)
2/2/2006 6:05:38 PM
Well, I'll probably leave by 3:30, but I still need to stop at the house (the bike won't fit in my M3, and I've got to take care of a lot of stuff this morning, and I'm not driving my Volvo all day)... Crabtree works, say 4:30? Pretty please? What about Saturday's ride, you guys up for a 12-12:30ish ride, or is that too early?Ahmet
2/2/2006 6:06:41 PM
I'd be down for Saturday, but I'm heading to Snowshoe. Have fun though.
2/2/2006 6:18:39 PM
^^ good and good with me
2/2/2006 7:42:31 PM
^^^ My '03 Trek 4500 and I are game for Friday & Saturday.
2/2/2006 7:45:32 PM
Can anyone get over to crabtree/rr earlier than 4:30? I'm thinking about getting out of work around 3-330 and hitting crabtree for a warm up, then over to RR for the real fun....of course, this is all assuming it didn't rain too much tonight, I was inside swimming so I don't know.As far as Saturday, I don't think 12:30 is too earlier, last week I swam at 9:30 and hit BD by 1. Again, the question is how much did it rain, because the Crabtree folks aren't too anal about opening the trial up where-as it seems BD is quite anal.
2/2/2006 8:30:56 PM
we ride on campus. example: pic in my gallery
2/2/2006 9:20:20 PM
That's cute.I may be able to make it out by 4:15 or something, but def. not earlier than that. If you guys wanna get together w/out me, I won't cry for too long.Ahmet
2/2/2006 9:23:37 PM
i have to get my car tech inspected and wont be done till like 1:30 on sat.. i forgot, doh. why not sunday? or maybe 2 on sat? its not dark till almost 6 now days..
2/2/2006 10:23:59 PM
oh yea i forgot about that...i could wait until 2. I'll just go swimming again in the morning, give you a chance to be able to keep up with me on the trails
2/2/2006 10:27:29 PM
^^^ I'll be there around 4:15-4:30, but no earlierand my saturday is wide open
2/2/2006 10:49:35 PM

I went with the classic Wal-Mart special: Roadmaster. It works for my purposes, and it's so crappy that niggas won't bother to steal it. I already stripped all the decals because they looked gay. I keep it in the bathroom.
2/3/2006 12:34:57 AM
Harris is closed today, wouldn't be surprised if Crabtree is as well. I have my bike, but I am not so sure how excited I am to ride Umstead.
