Anyone in this class with Blanton? This class seems somewhat difficult, i despise the online quizzes. Does he give curves as he has hinted? Who had him? Thanks guys.

I'm in it right now with him. The class doesnt seem so bad so far as all of the stuff so far has been reteaching of stuff I already had to learn in biochem, but I think its gonna get a lot tougher. I completely forgot about that first quiz so I got a 0/10 for my first quiz grade to start me out. Im really banking on his promise that hes not going to ask any questions on the tests that he didnt go over in the notes because I never bought the book and I dont plan on getting it. I think its gonna be hard, but not too bad.

I was in the class he taught last year. It was his first one at state and it was awful. Too hard and he was a slow grader. He assigned us two papers as well that took over a month to give back to us.

Hey Lezard, i got a 7.1/10, but there was too much semantics in his questions that threw me off and was confusing. I had my notes open, book open, wikipedia, google, but to no avail.

Did he mention anything in the beginning of class, I came late. I know he went over the quiz, right? No class, next Tuesday?

Joe - Did he curve? Do you have his class distribution of grades from last spring? It is not on school tools.

Thanks

All he did was go over the quiz and finish the notes. No class this coming up tuesday but he said there would be some kind of stuff on vista that we needed to look over instead.

I got an 8/10 on that quiz. Should have gotten a 9/10 if I'd read a question a little more carefully. This one doenst seem to be as hard as the first.

How'd everyone do on the test. I got a 67.5 by the key, but I swear I dont know how some of my answers are wrong. I've been going through the notes trying to figure it out but its a mystery to me.

You know I noticed that the first test from last year was much easier than this one, although this one was somewhat easy to difficult, the semantics in the questions caused me to make careless errors and indecisions (this is so common, I mean why can't he ask questions straightforward?). I wanted to make a straight 40/40, but my range may be in between a B/A.

His tests are/can be easy I believe, and it is like math or physics, just apply the concepts instead of constant regurgitation. Now I know his style, and will try to do better next time, as this is the key, Lezard.

-btw-Last quiz, i made a 10/10.

The third page killed me since I missed 5 of the 7, but ive been sitting here comparing my answers to the notes and Im confused at how my answers are incorrect. Part of my problem I think was that I didnt look at the diagrams in the notes nearly as closely as I should. I also kind of overestimated how much this test would be jsut a review of my biochem. Ill definitely up my study time next test and alter my study methods. I hope he goes over the test in class next time otherwise Ill be visiting him a lot more for office hours.

The problem with his teaching style is that he 'mumbles', he slightly touches upon something or not at all, and then tests you on those. The test questions I believe didn't 'test' overall, in depth knowledge, but were just parts of so and so. That was the theme I saw overall on his test.

The thing is that I remember he stated usually people do bad on the first test, but like he mentioned and in his syllabus, you can always replace your lowest test grade with the final (adjusted out of 100).

I got a 34/40=85%

I should have gotten a 37+, careless mistakes.

Next time!
