go to a bank.

I'm not sure about NC, but in GA, any commissioned military officer is automatically a notary public. And they don't even need to use a seal.

In any case, go to a bank. Or to Student Legal Services, I'm sure someone there is a notary.

If it's a UNIVERSITY DOCUMENT, downstairs in Harris Hall will do it.

If not, they'll tell you to screw off which pissed me off...

I finally hadta go to BB&T in Cary b/c the Wachovia on Hillsborough demanded I have an account w/ them. Yeah, now that you've screwed me, I'm REAL enticed to get a Wachovia account

hopefully you arent getting them to notarize a photocopy of your ID. I found out two weeks ago that a new law was allegedly passed that says they cannot certify photocopies of documents even if you have the original in hand.

Um, I had a document notarized that was for the city of Raleigh. Not sure if anything has changed in 2 years, but I'll assume it was the same process.

^^
Taxis are more expensive. Either that or take the time to go to your own bank

Incorrect. The lady down there was all like "we won't notarize anything if it's not a university document..."

It was one lousy sheet of paper, a limited power-of-attourney, and I got denied. The university I'm paying money to wouldn't notarize my document.

Look up the law about notaries in North Carolina. In Georgia, notary service is not provided by a bank or a university - it is a service that the state government provides. Therefore, someone cannot refuse to notarize a document because it's not a university document or because you don't have an account or something like that.

Get the lady's name and the county in which she is commissioned, and file a complaint.
