I have been playing guitar for the past ten years, however I am interested in purchasing a Taylor 110-e at guitar center this week. I am curious if anyone has had any experience buying from them, and if it is possible to haggle down the price 50-75 bucks off the sale price. List price of the guitar is 998.00 and last time I saw it there it was around 700. thanks for the help

I bought a Martin from them a couple years ago, got them to drop the price about 50 bucks and throw in a gig bag...really depends on who you work with, but nothing's set in stone unless it's a dime-a-dozen product

they work off comission and they inflate the prices so it is possible for a deal

yeah, i bought a wolfgang from there 3 years ago, they went down like 150 on it

awesome....i could go directly through Taylor guitars b/c my aunt is a music teacher. however, the lower price from taylor isnt worth the time to wait on shipping. thanks for the advice...im cruising over to guitar center tommorow, and ill let you guys know what kind of price i can haggle it to.

I've gotten some sweet deals off those guys. They usually offer to knock some $$ off if you are indecisive or making a few purchases at once.

you can easily haggle them down with a little effort

most music teachers get catalogs directly from the dealer such as fender, selmer, bach stradivarius and so on. they get those deals because school systems regularly have to make large instrument purchases, and discounts on drum line equipment or whatever are worth just talking to the factory. the only bad thing is I would have to make a trip to charlotte with the cash and wait probably 3-4 weeks on the guitar to be shipped to raleigh.

get them to throw in a lot of extras too, like a stand, extra sets of strings, etc.

I would buy a used guitar if I were you. I bought a Taylor 410 two years ago used in mint condition and it plays great. You get much better value buying used guitar. There are alot of great deals out there.

Just to toss in a few opinions:my fiancee got a Taylor 410ce from there and it's freaking amazing. I've never heard a comparable acoustic sound as good as it does. HUGE recommendation for Taylors.Next, I bought a Mesa Dual Rectifier + 4x12 cab from there about a year ago and since Mesa pricing is pretty much "set in stone" (much like Apple), the best I could get was 2 years no interest/no payments, a free 7-guitar stand, 2 free instrument cables, and like 4 packs of strings. The 2 years payment/interest free financing was awesome.Bargain with them though, if they won't haggle price, you can DEFINITELY get some freebies (try for those dank Taylor hardshell cases...)

I think all Taylors come with hardshell cases. Maybe not the cheaper models.
