^^ I was expecting some pretty dumb responses, but was really caught off guard by that oneomg lol that's only .000000524 in/sec lol!1natural waves raise water levels thousands of times higher than that in less than a second![Edited on January 30, 2006 at 11:05 AM. Reason : ]

Totally.I'm not poor, and I won't live to be 1023 yo. Why is this even post worthy?
1/30/2006 11:15:05 AM
well that was going to be my original response, but then i saw the obviously political comments by the scientists and decided to go with those instead. Once again cause its so funny:

boonedocks, are you calling my post dumb? We will all be dead by the time it has risen much more than a foot. Our Children will all be dead by the time it reaches 3'. Not to mention, a lot can happen in 1000 years. While I don't believe the end of oil will destroy civilization, I do believe it will be fazed out over the next 100-200 years. By the time global warming is "destroying the planet" about 200 years from now, it will be a thing of the past because there will be no fossil fuels to burn. At least they are being honest. They used to be arguing global warming was going to kill us all in 20 years. Now it is 1000 years. They're making progress.[Edited on January 30, 2006 at 11:26 AM. Reason : .,.]

See, when you troll as much as you do, no one can even tell if you're being serious.Just in case you are; you < panel of experts.

^^^^ What is that supposed to mean? What Scientific Evidence was I ignoring before? I only ask, because as far as I can tell no evidence has been presented that even postulates that "global warming" is being primarily driven by humans. Hell, graph the charts of "global warming" and "CO2 concentration" and it looks like giberish. Yes, it only makes sense to conclude that humans are increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, but the obvious causal relationship ends there. Temperature has jumped in the 20th century, but in spurts and fits, while CO2 levels have risen consistently (allowing for the occasional volcanic erruption). Even if they are right, check out some other propaganda from the same type of people:[Edited on January 30, 2006 at 11:43 AM. Reason : ^]

Ok ok, last post... this cartoon is kinda cute.

The obvious reply to that would be, one can be fixed in a matter of years, the other can't.

Who cares?Global warming is as natural as gay sex.

I just miss snow. We had one snowfall last year (and the whole city fucking paniced) and nothing this year.So depressing.

^^ Worry? About Oil? I didn't say we would have a problem in 100-200 years, just that it would be phased out. I expect the transition to alternative sources of fuel to be relatively painless and very gradual.

If we can measure changes now then we're already fucked. No need to worry about conservation. On the bright side of things, we'll all be dead before Raleigh is beach front so it doesn't matter.

If you really care about the environment you'd support nuclear power. But, until logic somehow weasels it's way into the enviro-wacko movement environmentalists will continue to be the largest obstacle to true environmental reforms.

Hey, SandSanta, five months until the bet is over. Are you still prepared to pay up at that time?
2/3/2006 12:23:28 AM
WE DIDN'T LISTEN!!!
2/3/2006 6:46:09 PM
The world is warming!Very slowly, and there is a very good possibility that it is a natural change that we can do nothing about (think opposite of the ice age)I would be more worried about local climate and rainfall change than the ice caps melting. This change could kill most of our vegetation, crops, etc and lead to all sorts of probsThe real problem with scientist is that they are always tentative to say that something is TRUE.There is no absolute truth in science, only things that are generally accepted, there is always a chance that things could be proved wrong later on. That is why they have trouble speaking in courts, before congress, etc.
2/3/2006 10:02:49 PM
or maybe they don't make absolute assertions because theyactually don't know everything and are being good scientists...global warming is far from a fact, and thats why there is debate over it in the respectable scientific community.
2/3/2006 10:08:09 PM
global warming wont cause the whole globe to warm up as hinted by the name. it will warm up the polls enough to stop the ocean current loops which deliver heat to midlattitudes. thus the equator will still be warm (probobly a little warmer. and a much larger area will be poled. the temperate zones (like where we live) will be very small.
2/4/2006 12:21:46 AM
^^ Global warming is pretty much a fact. Not many people dispute that the Earth is warming, and not much less people dispute that humans have at least a little to do with that. What IS in dispute is what the exact effects are, and what, if anything, could/should be done about it.
