Hey guys i just put a new 1000Watt amp and two 12'' subs in my car and my electrical system cant handle the load all of the time. I would rather not replace the alternator with a higher performance model so i am interested in getting a capacitor. I doubt many people have there lying around, but if you do PM me and well see if we cant work something out. (I dont really care what size it is, any farad rating will do.)

Thanx for looking.

why in the world do you need 1000W for two subs?
whats the sensitivity, like 75dB?

1st- 1000W is probably peak, may not be, but probably
2nd- An upgraded battery will do more for you than a capacitor
3rd- What is wrong with 1000W for 2 subs? I have 1100W RMS to one sub.

don't waste your money on a capacitor. they're useless to the amount of voltage drop you describe. replace your alternator.

Ok, Im planning on taking it to a pro to look over and depending on what they say is wrong i may take your advice about getting a new battery.

I personally have very little car audio experience and didnt know that capacitors were a waste, so thanx for the input.

Capacitors are good for keeping a steady voltage, and will help for a short bass hit, but won't prevent massive voltage drops from a big amp. (again, a dumbed down explanation)

A new battery will help more, but all said and done, a high output alternator is the best solution.

you need a more sensitive speaker
remember its a log scale so a few dB's will make a huge difference in power requirements

i mean seriously whats the sensitivity of that speaker, like 70dB's? way way under 100dB's tahts for sure

yea maxima is right, the capacitor is a waste of $ if the voltage drop is anything like you describe. 1 thing you can do it without spending tons of money is upgrade your big 3.
go in and replace(or just add) these cables with larger gauge wire. works wonders on most sotck systems.
1) alt to postive battery terminal
2)neg battery terminal to ground
3)engine block to ground

btw daryl i finallly got my amps in. orion all the way baby! after i build my new box i'll be ready for bass wars.

jon it's not that easy. if that was the case u'd have companies making subs w. 150db sensitivities and u'd only need 1 watt. my sub is getting 1000wrms also and the sensitivity is 91db. of course i coudl get decent bass w. 250w or 500w but i enjoy fuzzy vision.

what kind of amp is it, unless its some cheap amp like a pyle or a sony explode, a 1000 watt amp shouldnt hurt you too much. I had the same problem when i first got a pyle 1000 watt, Lights would dim every time it hit. Switched to mtx and havent had any problems.
