does the delivery fee go straight to the driver?as in, should i count that as tip?
1/25/2006 9:55:44 PM
nopeand what really sucks is that does nothing but earn the drivers less moneydont be a jew
1/25/2006 9:58:31 PM
i was just wondering... i'm not trying to be a jew... i'm just wondering what the fair tip amount is. should i include that extra dollar 30 in the total when i calculate the percentage to tip?
1/25/2006 9:59:27 PM
yesthat would be the more jewish way thoughthe non jewish way is to just give him what you woulda given him anywaysprufrock always said he wanted like atleast 3 from every order so i always give 3 now unless its an expensive order[Edited on January 25, 2006 at 10:04 PM. Reason : .]

if they find your house, its a miracle. Give them a tip just for having a sense of direction. Seriously, I have never gotten a pizza from papa johns where the driver did not get lost- even when I was ordering from Nelson Hall one time.
1/25/2006 10:50:29 PM
honestly thats probably the phone takers fault not the driverscampus orders are different, i bet the guy tried to put an address when all he had to do was put nelson hall or somethingwhen i worked there i considered that the fastest delivery people in this area, some people are gone for like 30 minutes and go to like 4 places
1/25/2006 10:53:42 PM
1/25/2006 10:56:27 PM
i've NEVER had a problem with papa johns. ever.
1/25/2006 10:57:02 PM
we ordered one night and were told it'd be 30-45 minutes. an hour rolls by, so we call back and (politely) say we were told 30-45 minutes and wondered where the food was at. the dude disappears for a second, comes back and is like "well i dont know who told you that but they committed a felony and should be fired! Do you remember his/her name?" My friend on the phone is all like and didn't know his name. We ended up gettin the pizza for free like 5 minutes later, then got 2 vouchers from papa john's corporate office "for our inconvenience." Turned out to be a sweet deal, though i hope dude was foolin around about the felony thing.[/personal story]
1/25/2006 11:24:42 PM
I was a little pissed off when I learned Papa John's started charging for a delivery charge. Why'd they start doign that anyway? It's almost a tax on college students. Papa John's is just getting too comfortable.

delivery fee?[Edited on January 25, 2006 at 11:43 PM. Reason : ^^felony????]
1/25/2006 11:41:24 PM
If you charge for delivery, you don't get tips.

1/26/2006 2:02:17 AM
yea back in the day when i slang pizzas, the fees all went to the driver at the end of the night. and they got paid like 6 an hour plus tips. so thats a lot better than a waiter. so i usually tip like 10% -- maybe more if the person is nice or funny or whatnot.
1/26/2006 2:05:31 AM
back when i was a young college student, we always thought it was funny or whatever to tip the drivers a beer. one time we tipped him a miller light or something (and cash of course) and the dude was like "have any newcastle?"

They pay the drivers $.50 for each trip out of the store so dont count the 1.30 in the tip .[Edited on January 26, 2006 at 8:48 AM. Reason : ]
1/26/2006 8:48:06 AM
last time i ordered online it included the tip in the total but on the receipt the driver brought me the tip amount said zero. i felt bad cuz i gave like a $5 tip.
1/26/2006 8:54:23 AM
the $1.30 goes to the store, not the driver. Its a lame attempt at trying to make their prices look lower. Basically screwing over the people that choose delivery over pick up as well as screwing over the driver by lowering tip income.
1/26/2006 9:04:11 AM
Tipping is bullshit
1/26/2006 9:14:27 AM
just like waiting i dont feel sorry for someone b/c of the tip fiasco. im not going to go out of my way to tip you insanely high b/c your company is screwing you...you obviously know that (or are dumb). it isnt some career path they took 6 years of college to get into and now are stuck.i usually give um around 10-15% of the order price.[Edited on January 26, 2006 at 9:24 AM. Reason : usually towards the 10, cuz all they do is drive there...gasp so hard]
1/26/2006 9:24:11 AM
hahahah whats this tip the pizza guy siteholy hell thats silly, its a bunch of pizza delivery stoners whining.
1/26/2006 9:55:40 AM
I think it is bullshit that the company screws the drivers, but i also feel its ridiculous to add to the screwing of the driver, because you were too lazy to go pick up your own dinner. Drivers pay for their own gas, and if no one was to tip, they would end up paying to work and therefor end up causing delivery services to stop alltogether.
1/26/2006 9:55:57 AM
how much do your drivers make per hour. i think its different than waiting tables.... where you tip out 2-3% (easily) of your sales to other people. which can easily exceed the amount they made that hour. i tip a lot more to waiters than i do to pizza people. [Edited on January 26, 2006 at 10:02 AM. Reason : pizzaaaaa]
1/26/2006 10:00:59 AM
depends on the company. but PJs is 5.15 which most drivers will easily go through that in gas.
1/26/2006 10:02:57 AM
no way you use that much gas.
1/26/2006 10:04:39 AM

besides the fact it doesn't make sense to tip when you place the order.
1/26/2006 10:16:05 AM
yeah really. if it shows up an hour late and the asshole is baked out of his mind, i might regret PRE-TIPPING. hahahaha
1/26/2006 10:16:55 AM
1/26/2006 10:33:05 AM
I only work 3-4 hours when i deliver, and i can tell you i easily go through 15-20 a day in gas.

1/26/2006 10:33:52 AM
^^ yeah and you also drive a trailblazer or whatever the hell it is. and i know you do it as a part time thing, so why even bother at all if its costing you money? it cant be. i mean all the kids on this site are claiming that its a trap and shit. but i know you aint trapped! so why do it?
1/26/2006 10:35:09 AM
since PJs has put on the delivery charge I make maybe 2/3 what i use to. I still make a decent ammount but thats relying on people to make up for poor tippers. We have to rely on large orders to companys and campus, that usually get you a $10 tip. If you arent lucky enough to get one of those runs, you have to hope you get a run with multiple stops. I basically dont even work for the income, i do it so i have something to do in my spare time. I hate just hanging out at home, or blowing my money going out drinking. Im lucky if I bring home $150 a week now at PJs after gas. Before they added the delivery charge it was 2x that.
1/26/2006 10:41:47 AM
hahahaha im getting madder and madder as i read this shit. im tempted to order a pizza and not tip because of all this whining and shit.
