are they mostly liberal or conservative things?i think the answer should be obvious. we cant let the liberal unions, socialists, and supporters of abortion take this country and destroy it like we have.from what ive read today, liberals want to take the money which PROTECTS us and put it towards their little welfare projects, further weakening america.and we see now that unions, another liberal group, are destroying industry.think about it.

i think the answer should be obvious. we cant let the conservative lobbyists, religious right, and supporters of government in our lives take this country and destroy it like we have.from what ive read today, conservatives want to take the money which PROTECTS us and put it towards their little warfare projects, further weakening america.and we see now that corrupt business, another conservative group, are destroying industry.think about it.

You're an idiot. The Ford layoffs are because of poor sales, not unions.

Well, the layoffs wouldn't be as severe as they are if not for the unions. Where-as ford should have been shedding workers regularly, by eliminating a shift or two, the unions have left ford with perverse options: Close the entire factory or keep every-single worker on. As for the question, the following things are keeping America down (not suceeding, of course, but slowing us down):#1: Congressional opennes: because all hearings, meetings, and committee votes are public, the special interest groups can hold individual congressional members accountable, hence control. #2: Judicial Structural Failure: lack of looser-pays in this country has made lawsuits far too frequent and have become a drain on the industries we need most, particularly medical. #3: Over Regulation: the FDA and EPA are not overly harmful to the nation as a whole (big companies can usually buy their way out of perverse regulation) but are dramatic killers for some citizens unlucky enough to come in contact with them. #4: and to an even lesser extent, the drug war: primarily for putting so many non-violent people in prison. Little benefit (reduced drug use is good) with a huge cost (so many fed/housed on government dole and the creation of a profitable black market for the most violent members of society to prosper)

oh God, this thread is stupid. I could go on further, but suffice it to say that the general chronic sucking of liberalism doesn't wash away idiot moves and corruption from the political right.

isn't the very definition of conservatism to hold back to traditional policies?

^ The trick is that voters are not watching C-Span, on average. Besides, non-special-interest voters generally vote based on overall performance (were conservative/liberal ideals honored in final legislation). Final bills have always been public and are generally all the public uses to determine success. However, historically, special interest stuff would die in committee and every member would walk out and proclaim "look, I tried to help you, but everyone else was against me," something impossible now, because the "special interest" can simply check the congressional records to make sure "their candidate" didn't also mention that their "interest" was bad for the nation as a whole.

Big government breeds corrupt business. Small government keeps the corps within the accountability of the American people.
