i have a mac and can't get lindo running on it, but working it out on paper, i figured that...
obviously, you're going to max the costs, and i dont have that data in front of me, but without resources, your only resource is the work day.

so, if you can paint 700 of unit 1 in a day maxed out, or 800 of unit 2 maxed out, would an appropriate equation be this?

( x1 / 700 ) + ( x2 / 800 ) = 1
(units / 1 day) / (units) = 1 day

so if you made 350 of unit 1, you're using 50% of your productivity, leaving... do the math.... 400 of unit 2 that can be produced.
and you would make the same thing with the engines, right?

i think it works except,
my only question is, should we keep track somehow of the fact that we're likely producing more engines than cars we can paint. do we allow for this?

I emailed Dr. Baugh asking for some general advice on how to set up a resource-less problem. His vague response was ...

"you're the manager and you show up at work ... what
do you need to tell your employees to do that day?"

When I asked him if two decision variables were all that was needed, he confirmed that this was the case.

so.... ill be in mann lab before class working on it. holler.
