ha. actually..i may take the semester off. i've had a job since i was a freshman in highschool...so it'd be nice to be able to have some down time. however.....there is a job helping with research at the vet school that im looking at.

Indeed... workin at the c store definately sucks... if only i could find another job that didn't require me to wait upon people and get paid a reasonable amount at a reasonable time... fuck

What's so bad about the CStore unless you agree to work at Bragaw on the nights it closes at 1am? Work another parttime job with comparable pay off campus and you'll be right back at the CStore b/c you'll appreciate the downtime that allows you to study and just relax. It's one of the best jobs you could have while carrying a full courseload. I worked at Cup A Joe for over a year and came back to the CStores and can not believe how casual it is in comparison. CAJ was pretty fun, making drinks and all, but now I wouldn't trade that for the schedule flexibility and opportunity to study while working.Tyler is pretty darn willing to help you out if you find you can't work a certain shift b/c of school. He's been very helpful with my return, in making sure that I'm not overloaded with shifts. If you can't handle the CStore, but can't get a job on campus in your field you might enjoy working at the library or a computer lab, but besides those I can't see what other campus employment would be as laidback about reading/studying/other activity during shift downtimes. However, nothing beats being able to go without a job. I haven't had that luxury since freshman year. Would be wonderful. People whose parents can afford their educations are so freaking lucky.

tyler is a good guy and he does really try to figure a schedule out for ya. i will admit that. and i told him that i was sorry to do it to him when he's so pressed for people, but....i just personally can't go to class 9 - 230 and then work 230-730 when i have a dog and 2 cats to take care of at home....which is my main concern. cuz they're my babies. :OP

Yeah I have financial aid, includng loans, but it doesn't cover all bills.
1/18/2006 7:51:34 PM
yeah I never got enough in aid to just sit around and do school work. I had to get a job my soph year and kept one ever since.
1/18/2006 9:32:10 PM
That's exactly what I did. I managed to get through freshman year okay.
