Anyone heard of this brand name HannsG ?It's $160 for 17" and $200 for 19" (after rebate).I hate their design look but the price seems OK.However, I am not sure if I can rely on their quality and rebate...I could not find any review on the web.Any idea?http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1648338&CatId=170http://www.google.com/search?q=hanns+lcd+monitor&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=Nhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E5R306/sr=1-1/qid=1137432013/ref=sr_1_1/103-0626528-4487841?%5Fencoding=UTF8http://www.bensbargains.net/ktalk/1137424123,35124,.shtml

I personally have not heard of this company. The response time (8ms) seems decent. You may want to look into if the manufacturer has a "no dead pixel guarantee" or something similar. You may also want to shop around some more b/c there are better deals out there from some other manufacturers that you have probably actually heard of..

I bought the $150 19" LCD a while back. "BenQ"It hasn't failed me yet. The only complaint I have is that the picture is a little too bright at the default settings.

BenQ is a good company. They're owned by Acer. They make branded monitors for Alienware.

kickass.

^^ $150 for 19"??? wow~~~~ that's awesome! must be a limited rebate or something...hope I can get a deal like that...
1/16/2006 1:26:18 PM
response time of 8ms screams bullshit.8ms is probably the response time at like 16 colors or some shit.

^^It was a slickdeal last summer. OD with no rebate. I jumped on that shit with the quickness.

This monitor seems too good to be true, and tons of people in the reviews are recognizing it. I did find another place where a guy bought this back in December for around $500http://grayonline.id.au/article.php/jblog-2005120601so maybe the company is trying to get their name out or just have a ton of extra monitors to unload. I might pick one up but I am pretty skeptical at this point. There is a tigerdirect store in Raleigh right?Edit: What is the best way to get 2 of these with rebates? Pay for both with cash and have one rebate sent to a friend in their name?[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 1:42 PM. Reason : added]

thanks for the info.i guess the best idea is to visit their store and have a look to check the quality.http://www.tigerdirect.com/retailstores/raleigh.asp3131-101 Capital Blvd.Raleigh, NC 27604Hours of Operation:Mon - Sat: 9am to 10pm Sun: 11am to 7pm (919) 790-6100i just called them at and they say they honor the same rebate as on the web. it's good that i can save some shipping fee.regarding 2 rebate question, asking your friend sounds OK

thats got ot be the ugliest LCD casing on earth
1/16/2006 3:51:01 PM
^ pretty bad i agree, but if you can get a good deal why not?
1/16/2006 3:55:42 PM
last time i checked my monitor is something i had to look at[Edited on January 16, 2006 at 3:58 PM. Reason : but i checked last month]
1/16/2006 3:58:40 PM
I agree it is ugly as sin but do you spend a considerable amount of monitor time looking at the casing rather than the actual screen itself?
1/16/2006 4:04:27 PM
it's a mystery that the specs (600:1 contrast, 8 ms response time, speakers...) are so good but it looks really really ugly...something must be wrong with the case designer in that company....

here comes another deal... 17" lcd for $139http://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/detail.asp?dpno=720250

So I picked this 19 incher up from tigerdirect, no dead pixels. This is my first LCD so I am not really qualified to comment on its quality other than compared to my old 17" DELL monitor the clarity is sick. The improvement is good enough for me that I'll be going back over there tomorrow to buy another one.

Apparently the company is a Taiwanese firm that just started in July 2005. Either they're attempting to make a big splash with their new monitors or are selling a really crappy product.

Dig some more. Hannspree was founded in 2004 (can't find a specific month yet though).[Edited on January 17, 2006 at 12:35 PM. Reason : x]
