I just picked up a used T30 for about $550. I was wondering if you guys had any good/bad experiences with IBM. Is there anything in particular that I should know about these models?

some people swear by IBM's and think they are all wonderful but i personally think they are overpriced for what u get in terms of components. however, IBM's in general are built to last so i dont think u'll have to worry about that.

That's what I've heard, so I'm glad to find another to reinforce that.and yeah, I know i overpaid a little for this thing, but hopefully it will last a few good years.

IBM's are very durable and definitely built to last. The T series are some of the top of the line models also. There are lots of IBM laptops out there also so finding replacement parts shouldn't be a problem.

awesome.Another question. What's the longest lasting battery I can buy for this thing? As far as I know, it came with a stock battery (that lasts around 2 hours). Are batteries made for IBMs so that they last 4+ hours on a single charge?

I'll get flamed, but what are you guys doing with your laptops that you have to worry about how long them last physically?I have used almost every brand - Acer, Dell, Toshiba, HP, Compaq but never had a laptop breaking apart.

It's not going to be a desktop replacement. It will spend a great deal of it's life in my book bag.So if it's not somewhat durable, it's going to have a mighty short lifespan.
