Starts Next Monday(1/16)

Men
Rank Player Name

2 R. Nadal
3. A. Roddick
4 L. Hewitt
5 D. Nalbandian
6 N. Davydenko
7 A. Agassi
8 G. Coria
9 I. Ljubicic
10 G. Gaudio
11 F. Gonzalez

14 D. Ferrer
15 D. Hrbaty
16 R. Ginepri
17 R. Gasquet
18 J. Ferrero
19 T. Robredo
20 R. Stepanek

Nadal has just pulled out and Agassi has been out for awhile. you have to say Federer is the favorite because he is the best. Its a rock chalk pick but i think he will win unless someone plays like Safin in last years tournament.

We are fortunate enough to see what will undoubtedly go down as the Greatest Tennis Player of All Time. He will win this tourney soley based upon the factthat he lost it last year.

I am calling it right now.

Federer wins the Grand Slam this year.

Marat Safin has withdrawn due to injury.

Federer is a shoe-in for the Title in 4 sets v. Roddick.

i'm goin with federer too, hard to bet against the guy. nadal's out, but he has a lot of work to do on hard court before he's at federer's level--on the terre battue he's ridiculous though...federer's got roddick's number, the only guy i see taking out roger is nalbandian.

on another note, i'm looking to play some tennis--played a lot in hs, kinda rusty now though...anyone who wants to hit PM me.

Id be willing to take Federer to win the thing at 1:1 odds...

Ive been on fire in majors recently... remember I tabbed Clijsters to win the US Open this year... that was a sick payout...

Nalbandian is my 2nd favorite to win the Aussie. Hewitt has been playing like dogshit so i dont think this is his year. Im taking Blake if i can get better than 50:1 odds...

Nadal is out, he hasn't played a tourney in about 3 months...he's been practicing hard for about 2 weeks but says he isn't ready to play a major now. I think he'll debut in early February.

Nalbandian actually has an awesome head to head record against Federer.

"awesome" being a relative term compared to Federer's record agianst everyone else.

Even the matches he loses he usually puts up a fight.

Women:
1 Lindsay Davenport
2 Kim Clijsters
3 Amelie Mauresmo
4 Maria Sharapova
5 Mary Pierce
6 Nadia Petrova
7 Patty Schnyder
8 Justine Henin-Hardenne
9 Elena Dementieva
10 Venus Williams
11 Nathalie Dechy
12 Anastasia Myskina
13 Serena Williams
14 Svetlana Kuznetsova
15 Francesca Schiavone
16 Nicole Vaidisova
17 Daniela Hantuchova
18 Elena Likhovtseva
19 Dinara Safina
20 Flavia Pennetta
21 Ana Ivanovic
22 Anna-Lena Groenefeld
23 Jelena Jankovic
24 Tatiana Golovin
25 Maria Kirilenko
26 Ai Sugiyama
27 Marion Bartoli
28 Anabel Medina Garrigues
29 Klara Koukalova
30 Vera Zvonareva
31 Gisela Dulko
32 Sania Mirza

As much as I want Roddick to win, I think Federer or Nalbandian will take this one. Even if Federer doesn't take the title, he's still a great player to watch.

A Davenport/Clijsters final would be nice, as long as it's a better and more intense match than the U.S. Open final last year with Pierce/Clijsters. Matrina Hingis is playing against Zvonareva (#30) in the first round. That's one of the matches I really want to see just because Hingis is one of my old favorites.

Federer beats Roddick in four sets in the final in this one

Federer will win all of the slams this year but the French...it is the only one that eludes him the career slam but I think Nadal will repeat there; he is just about unbeatable on clay

Federer will get one b4 he retires though and get the career slam

Interesting to see some names up there who had fallen quite a bit in the rankings, Schnyder and Hantuchova. My money's on Clijsters.

James Blake got screwed on his draw...

he just won the last tournament and they turn around and schedule him as one of the first matches... thats ridiculous...

he could potentially meet Nalbandian in the 4th round... I think it'll be Federer vs Nalbandian/Blake in the final.

^Clijsters and Hardenne are the ladies favorites right now... next is Sharapova & Davenport... then to a lesser extent Mauresmo and Pierce... soemone from the field could emerge though..

The only thing i hate about the Australian is that they are a day ahead of us over there. that being said roddick advanced, winning 4, 2, and 2. Americans Robby Ginepri and James Blake won their openning round matches while Taylor dent lost.

i put $560 to win $61 against Roddick... so i guess i gave someone a little better than 9:1 odds

$279 to win $21 against Hewitt. Hope he keeps playing crappy....

Third-seeded Hewitt needs rally to win in five sets. he beat Czech Robin Vik 6-4, 2-6, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in 3 hours, 45 minutes.

Yeah, Im not worried about Hewitt at all.

No way he rebounds after that match.

He didnt touch a racket for two months, theres no way he can compete in this tournament. He's been playing like crap his last few matches.

I cant believe people were buying him at 13:1 odds.

i saw the highlights, it was hackleroad's husband, he played against Gonzalez, the american won in 5 i think

they were smacking balls at each other, doing a lot of talking, ref had to get off the bench

at one point Gonzalez had just tapped it back to the American who was serving, and the American walked in front of it so it hit him, and then started laughing all crazy, it was funny

his name is Alex Bogomolov Jr.
haha, he got fined: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/aus06/news/story?id=2296461
