MY MOCK DRAFTI assumed the steelers are going to lose to the colts, and the pats are going to beat the broncos and then beat INdy to make it the the superbowl where they will win it againI also assumed the Carolina will beat chicago and that the skins will lose to the seahawks, who then will lose to the panthers--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I also assume the 49ers trade down to the Browns' spot #13 The Lions Trade down to #20 with KC--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2006 Draft Order 1. Houston - Reggie Bush, RB USC (theyve already said so)2. New Orleans - Matt Leinart, QB USC (he is the best QB in the draft and is a pocket passer, somthing the Aints wished theyve had while putting up with aaron brooks)3. Tennessee - Vincent Young, QB Texas ( McNair has tutored him for a while, now he gets the chance to keep the starting spot warm for vince until he's ready)4. New York Jets - DeAngelo Williams, RB Memphis (they need someone for C-Mart, but they also need a lot of other things, so they'll settle for the #2 rb in the draft. I could also see them trading this pick to maybe Arizona so arizona can take Williams)5. Green Bay - Mario Williams, DE NCSU (Poor Mario )6. Oakland - AJ Hawk, LB Ohio St (Not only does he look like an oldschool raider from the tecmo bowl era, the raiders need LBs badly, i could also mebbe see them taking jimmy williams here)7. *Cleveland* - Mathias Kiwanuka, DE BC (Cleveland BADLY needs a pass rusher and have used a converted DT at DE most of the season in their 3-4 scheme, so they trade up, happy that Mathias is still available)8. Buffalo - D'Brickashaw Ferguson UVA (As bad as they could use Ngata at DT, their OL is absolutely horrible, so they grab the best OL)9. *Kansas City* - Haloti Ngata, DT Oregon (The Cheifs trade up for the best DT in the draft and fill a huge hole in their D. Now Kendrell Bell and Derrick Johnson have some help in the middle)10. Arizona - Vernon Davis, TE UMD (This pick gives Denny Green maybe one of the best WRs/TE group in the NFL. Davis is a perfect fit for the Denny Green system in Arizona. He will probably go for a RB in rd 2 again this year as Arrington hasnt panned out so far)11. St. Louis - Jimmy Williams, Safety/CB VT (their secondary was toasted like every week and badly need help in this area)12. *San Francisco*- Michael Huff, S Texas (The 49ers need many parts, so in the trade down they aquire this pick and other that can help them build. Safety is a big need in SF and Huff is the best one in the draft. In my opinion this would be the perfect realistic situation for the 9ers)13. Baltimore - Winston Justice, OT USC (With Ogden and Brown getting into their 11th nfl season next year, Baltimore will need help on their OL, and with Justice they get another athletic tackle in the Ogden mold)14. Philadelphia - Santonio Holmes, WR Ohio St (With the departure of TO, the eagles are stuck at WR. Reggie brown isnt the answer, neither is pinkston. Holmes gives McNabb a solid down the field threat and is a solid blocker, which is needed in the Eagles offensive scheme)15. Atlanta - Marcus McNeill, OT Auburn (The falcons also could use safety help, but they need to protect Schaub...ehem... Vick better and their current OLine is a mess)16. Miami - Brodrick Bunkley, DT FSU (I really think the Dolphins will make a move for a QB already in the NFL way b4 the draft starts. So with this pick they shore up their interior D-line and add depth to a spot whose starters will be turning 36 and 37 this year)17. Minnesota - Laurence Maloney, RB Minnesota (With onterrio smith gone, bennett going to be gone and moe williams a FA, the vikings have a chance to add a REAL starting RB who will be able to open up the passing game for Daunte Culpepper. It also helps that Maloney went to UMinnesota)18. Dallas - Eric Winston, OT Miami (an obvious need for a team who has to protect the immobile Bledsoe)19. San Diego - Chad Greenway, LB Iowa (Perfect fit for Marty's 3-4 D on the other side of Merriman) 20. *Detroit* - Jay Cutler, QB Vanderbilt (Well I think my Lions will trade down with him in mind, this is their most glaring need and they will address OL with the extra 2nd rd pick they got from KC)21. Tampa Bay - Thomas Howard, OLB UTEP (LB is a position of need for the bucs, as well as OL, but they are getting the best athlete available and he also fills a need)22. New York Giants - Tamba Hali, DE PSU (They need a replacement for Strahan when ever his body starts giving up on him, and Hali could be the 3rd best DE in the draft)23. Cincinnati - Demeco Ryans, ILB Alabama (The bengals NEED defense. Here they get a guy that does not have prototypical speed or size, but is a leader and a smart player. Possibly someone to bring the Defense together at the MLB position)24. Jacksonville - Kelly Jennings, CB Miami (Jacksonville desperately needs a solid CB to play on the other side of Rashean Mathis)25. Denver(from WAS) - Leonard Pope, TE Georgia (A perfect fit for the Broncos, at 6'7" 250, Pope can catch and block(which we all know is important in Denver), not just one or the other like the TE by committee there this year)26. Chicago - Derek Hagan, WR ASU (Chicago desperately needs a WR to compliment Muhammed, and the Hagan gives them another big receiver perfect for their style of possesion offense)27. Pittsburgh - Lendale White, RB USC (With Bettis leaving and their entire focus on the running game, the steelers need a bruiser and White could fall right in their lap)28. Denver - Laron Landry, Safety LSU (Denver needs to begin grooming a replacement for John Lynch and with their 2nd 1st rd pick, they get a steal)29. Seattle - Orien Harris, DT Miami (Seattle needs interior line help. That is where their run defense was exposed many times this season, not to mention the talent level at the DT position is low. Harris would be a great addition and is in the cortez kennedy mold)30. Indianapolis - Elvis Dumervil, DE Louisville (With David THornton likely leaving for Free agency, the addition of Dumervil to the line would allow them to move Robert mathis back to LB to replace thornton. Also Dumervil has recieved some freeney comarisons but lacks the speed that freeny has)31. Carolina - Mercedes Lewis, TE UCLA (As much as I think they should look to the defensive side, this would be a great addition to the offense, giving Delhomme a solid red-zone threat)32. New England - Maurice Drew, RB UCLA (with all the injuries at RB, they need some fresh blood. I could see them going RB to solidify the position and to have a true rb (as evans and pass were FBs) to back up dillon until he retires or they get rid of him)[Edited on January 8, 2006 at 8:50 PM. Very interesting & well done. But do you really think Ferguson will be on the board that long? I forsee someone trading up to 4th, 5th, or 6th to get him. I guess it depends if teams are concerned about injuries.

the giants arent taking a defensive end
1/9/2006 8:16:35 PM
at that spot why wouldnt theyi mean they do have to have a replacement for strahan, and unfortunately at that stage of the draft, none of their needs (WR, CB) are available other than LB, and i think they'd go with the best player available, then again im not coughlin i say that b/c hagans is not a good compliment to plaxico, as he is the same type of WR.
1/9/2006 8:58:31 PM
bttt
1/9/2006 9:35:54 PM
^^Hagans is 6'1, Plexico is 6'5. The Giants need LB, OL, and CB in that order.
1/9/2006 11:06:35 PM
I think it'll be interesting to see what Dallas does at 18, if they stay there. Obvious need #1 is O-Line. But they also need youth at WR, and at this spot they could likely get the best WR available. It could be a spot for Jay Cutler too. However, I have heard the Saints really like him and may deal down to get him

Cincinnati - Demeco Ryans, ILB Alabama (The bengals NEED defense. Here they get a guy that does not have prototypical speed or size, but is a leader and a smart player. Possibly someone to bring the Defense together at the MLB position)24. Chicago - Derek Hagan, WR ASU (Chicago desperately needs a WR to compliment Muhammed, and the Hagan gives them another big receiver perfect for their style of possesion offense)28. Indianapolis - Brian Calhoun, RB Wisconsin (When his workouts at the camps show his 4.35 speed, Calhoun will vault into the 1st round. And with Edge in a contract year, and the oft injured backups to edge, why not a RB in the first round. Calhoun fits the Colts offense better than White) 29. i'm the fantasy GM, and i say i'll do what it takes
1/16/2006 10:00:46 PM
what the panthers need the most is not a TE, but a RB. All those pass catching TE can't block anyway.
1/16/2006 10:50:50 PM
i like your Giants pick, Karimand they do not need an OLLB and CB will come firstnot necessarily in that orderif it were me that isits what we need...and has been mentioned repeatedly by coaches and writers alike
1/16/2006 11:10:51 PM
unless lendale white has a really bad combine or something (and even then i don't think he'll make it to the panthers), i don't think there's a running back in the draft thats worth taking that late. i agree they need one, but i still think shelton will take the reigns next year. he's the bruiser they need, and goings can be the change of pace back. i don't know the panthers' cap situation, and i know 'spoon is a free agent, so if they can't resign him a LB is a possibility. basically i would just take the best available player at their spot
1/16/2006 11:26:11 PM
i really think chad jackson will be a nice compliment to smithyou guys ahould be happy to get help for smithcolbert sucks
1/16/2006 11:39:40 PM
They probably only have cap space to sign either Foster or Witherspoon, and I think Foster is a higher priority right now. Thomas Davis will probably take Witherspoon's spot if he leaves.
