Does anyone have this or have any experience with this mp3 player? For only 200 bucks it seems like a great deal and i read through most of the reviews on cnet.com and those users seem to have great things to say about it.I did a search with no results so i thought i'd ask if any of you guys have any input on this unit. Namely sound quality and ease of compatibility. Thanks guys

i have that same one and the only small complaint i have is that it's not quite as easy to navigate as an ipod, but just as good in every other area.i love it.

i got the bigger version whatever product number is (the 30gb one). personally i like it a lot and it fits exactly what i wanted. 1 big complaint is the lack of accessories like cases. they only have 1 case that really fits the player perfectly and it is only available from phillips.1 complaint i did read was problems with getting the album art to show up, but for sound quality, price, looks, etc they are great players.

awesome thanks guys. yeah i read that the case it comes with is horrible and that there are really no alternatives. I can live with that. How do you guys like the Windows Media Player as the main interface for uploading the music?

well i picked mine up today and i love it. I wasn't real sure why people complained about the case they provided unless its changed. the one i got was a rubber exo shell kinda like for an ipod and fits nicely. So far its working great

the case with the larger version is just a foam pocket with no access to the screen or buttons. personally it doesnt bother me, i just pick a good playlist, jam it in the case and shove it in my pocket. mine froze on startup today but is working fine again. i hope that doesnt become a regular issue.

i gotta a couple of questions...i was debating that or the 5gb creative muvo2 fm that they have for $150 at tigerdirect (yes, i know it's a dated product, but there are several things that i think i like about it that the other ones don't offer)does the philips do stuff in folder mode? meaning, can i put my music into folders (rock, metal, ballet) and have it KEEP them in there instead of indexing the whole freakin' drive so i have different genres mixed together (i HATE hearing ballet in the middle of my metal operas)?does the philips support .m3u or .pls playlists (the ones winamp makes)?does the philips get 16+ hours of battery life (you probably haven't had it long enough to know, i guess)does the philips use an upgradeable compact flash card (or any standardized flash card) as its storage (a cool hack-point for the creative)?does the philips operate as a flash disk as well (and can you simply drag-and-drop or do you have to use a program)?i'm not trying to be a jerk...just curious because i SERIOUSLY considered it (it's pretty, i liked it), but i wasn't able to test it (though i could have just bought it from wal-mart and returned it if it sucked)

im not a guru on this kind of stuff...but i'll do my bestIn windows media player(which is the program used to load and sort songs for this particular player) if you edit the genre of the songs...most are already correct, but if you do you can select a genre, say Classic Rock, and all of the songs it has listed in that genre can be played amongst themselves. I am really not sure about the .m3u etc.No idea about battery life...mine came with a good amount of charge on it so im trying to drain it completely and give it a full charge.About the flash card thing, i don't think so, but don't take my word for it. its a 6GB HDD that stores everything, but on the back of the box it says "upgradeable" but im not sure what that refers to. And its not used as a flash disk. It only holds pictures and songs(as far as i know). I read lots of reviews for this item and not once read anything about it being able to temporarily store files or other format like word or excel items. So i don't think it does.As for drag and drop, you have to have WMP v.10 which is included in the box. And you can drag and drop what items you want to upload on the player or simply just have the player automatically search your library and upload what it doesn't already have.hope that helped if not i'll do my best to figure it out

i know the bigger one only gets about 10 hours of battery life (advertised as 10+ so we can assume 10 is around the max). although i havent tested it, it would seem you could use it to store any files you wanted. i would like to test the m3u ability, cuz right now if you have multiple play lists it doubles up the duplicate songs (unless im missing how to avoid such an issue). i dont use premade lists and instead listen to genre's, but that is annoying.

you can put whatever you like on it. just open it like a drive in explorer and drop them in.
