My fiance and I are starting to look for places to have our wedding/reception. We'd like to have both at the same place. As of right now, our first choice is the new 5 star hotel/spa being built on the SAS campus in Cary. However, should we not be able to afford that location, we would need an alternate plan. Can y'all reccomend places in the Raleigh/Cary area where we could have our wedding should our first choice not work out? Thanks

You are planning on a hotel that is not yet built? Don't do it.[Edited on January 3, 2006 at 9:46 PM. Reason : asdf]

I don't think the hotel not being built is a problem, because it will be completed about a half a year before our wedding date. ( Also, the hotel is way ahead of schedule as of now)

We had our reception at the Sheraton downtown. The wedding director there is AMAZING. You can also have your ceremony there, although we did not. pm me if you want her contact info.I heard from a lot of our guests that it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. I didn't get to eat any b/c i was too damn excited about the day.

I've been researching Wedding Locations and I would love for this thread to keep going because I am having a really hard time with it.

My fiance' and I are getting married at Lake Wheeler at the pavillion, and we are having the reception there.

whatever you do make sure you get someone who's good at directing - preferably someone not on the guest list - to handle the surprises that come along at wedding receptionsI did it once for someone ... there were at least a dozen things that went wrong that the families never knew about because I introduced myself as the go-to person to all the vendors. You don't want to be bothered with that crap constantly, even if it's just minor. (Not a plug for hiring me - I won't be around this year )Good luck and congrats!

I can vouch for the food at the Sheraton downtown, I've been there twice for special events.Gregory's in Waverly place is very nice but also quite expensive, so it depends on your budget

Delightful Inspirations. Corner of Tryon & Avent Ferry. They have a garden with a gazebo for an outside wedding, and a large indoor reception hall. Exploris Museum. East Hargett St downtown raleigh-for reception. There is a church right next door that you can rent for services. Can't think of the name.

Cafe Luna will cater at Exploris for a good (meaning affordable, not high) price. When they need more food, they make it fresh and roll it across the street

My buddy had his wedding outside at Magnolia Cottage over at Lake Johnson. It was pretty nice.

Right around the corner from Cotton Company. I think max occupancy is 175 so great for a smaller wedding.[Edited on January 4, 2006 at 10:58 AM. Reason : .]

Depends on how many guests there are. I can't suggest any particular hotels, but I love natural areas, and got married at Lake Wheeler, so would recommend either of the lakes, or Rose Garden.

punchmonk had a lovely wedding at the Rose Garden.

I was engaged back in august and actually just signed the contract for highgrove in fuquay-varina. It is a beautiful plantation house backed up against a lake. you should check out their website. Also, look at the website for barclay villa. It is amazing there if you have that kind of money to spend. There is also a place in clayton called the wagner. There is a place called the matthews house in cary, a place in raleigh called longview and another place called the poe house. These places depend on how big your wedding party is and what you are really looking for.All of the country clubs/ golf courses are available for weddings also. Goodluck.

If you're rich, The Matthew's House in Cary does receptions and all sorts of things.http://www.matthews-house.com/

We are having our wedding at the Preston Woodall House:http://www.woodallhouse.com/Its in Benson but really not that far. The ceremony is outdoors in a garden but they have a huge ballroom for the reception that can also accomodate the ceremony if weather is bad. Its very beautiful with a fountain and waterfall in the garden. They are a bed and breakfast but have weddings almost every weekend and can handle small to large weddings.[Edited on January 5, 2006 at 3:41 PM. Reason : .]

We were married at the Fearrington in October. It's in Pittsboro, NC. They do everything for you flowers, food, provide you with a wedding planner. They were great to work with. For a photographer I would recommend Tamara Lackey. I can show you some photos of her work if you would like. Just email me at amyoung26@yahoo.com. My dj was also wonderful. He can do just about anything you ask for and keeps the flow of the reception upbeat.

i just went to a wedding over the break where they did it right outside the girls house. Just goes to show, you don't really need to think about it too much.
