but the other computer in my brother's room (same modem/router with roadrunner) is working fine.i rebuilt my computer and reinstalled windows, but i can't get a connection through any of the network connection options...and as you can see it works in my brother's room...anyone know what is causing this?

just tried one and nothing...the connection shows up, but when i try to repair i get the "query failed tcp/ip" message...i'll try that one now ^

i have 2 network connections that show up1394 connection: when i repair it...it get the query failed tcp/ip thingLocal Area Connection 4 (came after the driver brianj320 posted): when i repair it it works, but still not internet...i've tried doing a new connection and resetting the modem

Go into the Hardware Manager/Mangler and delete the network ports and immediately reboot.When you boot back up it should "detect new hardware" ... when it does then provide it the driver disk you made.If it does not, then manually add the driver through Hardware Manager.

^nah1394 is firewire since you can do a network connection with itthe lan connection 4 was nvidea forceware firewall and connection manager...i just found that...removed it...and now it works perfect...thanks for all of your help though...tww and google to the rescue...if you have an nvidea chipset keep that crap uninstalled!
