So P.Riv's dad is back in town cause he didn't like San Diego.Let me guess, you were used to being treated like a celebrity and the people in San Diego didn't give a fuck that you were the daddy of a backup Quarterback. You cant just walk into SO.Cal and expect to run the town. Also, it looks like Philip is gonna be back on the bench for year 3.No one is gonna wanna trade for Brees now, and I highly doubt San Diego wants to risk going into the season without an insurance policy. Now Philip, you money grubbing bastard. Do us all a favor and shut the fuck up and eat this bench.

I run San DiegoI told Rivers' dad to leave

By the way.If Philp acts like a man this season and acts like a good teammate then I will be willing to give him another chance.Until he stops being a fucking baby though he doesn't deserve any more support than you give Koren Robinson.I dont understand why Terrell Owens is a nigger but Philip Rivers is a Golden Boy, when what Rivers did was more out of line.Philip fooled you people into thinking he was some great guy that wasn't like the rest of them... but when it came down to it he showed his true colors.
1/1/2006 2:41:40 PM
you did not just compare him to TOare you fucking kidding?
1/1/2006 2:44:24 PM
well they both held out for money. The difference being, T.Owens had a legitimate beef while Rivers was being a moron. One of them is one of the best players in the league.... and the other one comes in to kneel the ball in blowouts. So when you think about it, it seems strange that Rivers makes $6.5 million and T.O makes $3.5 million[Edited on January 1, 2006 at 2:46 PM. Reason : a]
1/1/2006 2:45:09 PM
Yeah and San Diego is like the most coveted franchise to work fori mean its not like they have a repeated history of fucking players over or anything
1/1/2006 2:46:41 PM
Rivers' dad has been back in Raleigh for at least a year I think.
1/1/2006 2:50:46 PM
The Chargers offered Philip 6 years 40.5 millionSounds plenty fair to me.He tried to contend he was the #1 pick in the draft. That's lunacy.
1/1/2006 2:52:54 PM
I love this thread. Because the truth hurts
1/1/2006 2:56:11 PM
i dont know all the stipulations of rivers' offer, but didnt it only give him all the money if he went to the super bowl like 4 times or somehting
1/1/2006 3:00:13 PM
it sucks that rallydurham makes a lot of great points in this thread
1/1/2006 3:00:31 PM
^^ i think so. I tried to tell someone that and they laughed at how unreal that was
1/1/2006 3:02:03 PM
Philip played yesterdayand TO won't today
1/1/2006 3:02:13 PM
yeah rivers dad came back before last football season ... and his wakefield football team was top ten in the state ... not bad considering the school is only like 5 years old and the school zone is all preppy white rich kids
1/1/2006 3:06:23 PM
1/1/2006 3:07:26 PM
I thought that all of this was covered the year before last.
1/1/2006 3:09:05 PM
it was. rallydurham is just trolling the fuck out of sports talk
1/1/2006 3:11:27 PM
I'm not trolling, this is a new update.Everyone figured that Brees (or possibly Rivers) would be traded at the end of the year. With Brees injury and pending surgery, it is much less likely that either will be traded. It's looking like Rivers & Bench in '06!!!!
1/1/2006 3:15:18 PM
According to Sexson, the original contract had one bonus of $5 million if he won three Super Bowls and made it to three Pro Bowls. Another $7.5 million if he added a fourth, and then another $10 million if he added a fifth. All this within the six year contract.
1/1/2006 3:19:21 PM
SI's Peter King said of the negotiations, at the time:"I think it is unbelieveable that the Chargers are at war with their first-round quarterback, Philip Rivers. Not that I know much about the business, but the Chargers are using one of the dumbest ploys they teach you NEVER to use in Negotiations 101. Never break off talks and say, "The offer will go down every day from here on out.'' Silly, I-dare-you-to-knock-this-block-off-my-shoulder crappola. Rivers won't be signing for a dime less than was on the table the day San Diego made that pronouncement."
1/1/2006 3:22:38 PM
He's no Peyton Manningand that is a very odd bench by the way... legs are weird[Edited on January 1, 2006 at 3:29 PM. Reason : d]
1/1/2006 3:23:37 PM
^^^ there you go.A great idea the Chargers had.Philip was under the impression he was "negotiating" with the Chargers and the Chargers were saying
1/1/2006 3:24:05 PM
Rivers will be starting for someone next year. There's plenty of teams out there that need QB's.
1/1/2006 3:50:42 PM
^ including the Chargers. They have NO incentive to trade Rivers now.And I seriously doubt anyone's gonna give up the farm for Brees now.Rivers isnt jsut free to do whatever he pleases, you know. There's a whole league complete with rules and everything....[Edited on January 1, 2006 at 3:55 PM. Reason : a]

Rivers in Washington in '06
1/1/2006 4:16:57 PM
I have no moral issues with pissing on your face rally. You're a troll of the finest calibre, and you're just lucky that the 'fers won today, or else you'd be in the sin-bin alongside your twin brother MacGyver.
1/1/2006 4:30:08 PM
The original reason for River's hold out was related to the contract they were offering. His contract would have been worth $40M. But there were some crazy things like making the playoffs 5 of the first 6 years, and starting some crazy number of games. There was also some clause that related to how much he got paid if he was injured or something......
1/1/2006 5:00:51 PM
did macgyver hack into rally'd account?
1/1/2006 5:08:14 PM
i think one good point that rallydurham left out was citing san diego's long history of offering fair, speedy and accepted contracts to their first round draft picks. oh wait...tomlinsonjammerriversmerrimanall have had to hold out of camp. to further compare river's situation to TO's laughable. there is a big difference in holding out for your initial contract and holding out a year after signing an extension.[Edited on January 1, 2006 at 5:13 PM. Reason : .]
1/1/2006 5:12:58 PM
Merriman didn't hold out, did he? I thought he just refused to participate in the summer workouts.
1/1/2006 5:26:15 PM
best thread ever
1/1/2006 5:42:04 PM
ORIGINAL THOUGHTSYOU HAVE NEVER EXPRESSED THIS OPINION BEFORE!!
1/1/2006 5:44:56 PM
Yeah I love how rally clutters the fuck out of this message board with stupid ass repeated troll threads. There is no reason to bitch about this. Rivers knows his situation, he would probably do it the same way again if he had to. RD, If you know so goddamn much about his situation then why the fuck arent you an NFL agent? Is it because you're just a faggot internet troll?
1/1/2006 5:49:54 PM
*********NEWSFLASH************These are originial thoughts. This thread has NOTHING to do with his contract issues.Everyone already knows that this
1/1/2006 5:56:20 PM
is true, STFU
1/1/2006 6:02:32 PM
1/1/2006 6:05:52 PM
Yeah, I was under the impression that his original contract was for around 60 million. But it was all "if you win 20 superbowls in 6 years" shit so he wouldnt accept it....so he took the 40 million with a lot more guaranteed.
1/1/2006 6:09:54 PM
I came back to post that you are a god damn idiot...and that....Rivers dad came back because his other son was starting HS and he wanted him to go to Wakefield because they liked Raleigh and didn't want to go back to Alabamabut don't let facts get in the way of trolling, fuckhead
1/1/2006 6:17:45 PM
1/1/2006 6:41:32 PM
And everyone SHUT THE FUCK UP about his contract.Everyone knows about that already. This thread is about the fact he has a good chance of remaining a Charger now.
1/1/2006 6:42:20 PM
1/1/2006 6:43:34 PM
The average signing date for the Charger's first round picks over the last 5 years was the exact day Rivers signed. Seems to me that has more to do with the Chargers than Rivers. But nice job with your pointless thread.
1/1/2006 6:47:16 PM
^^ no, most people do not agree with that.He turned down 38 million... then 39 million. He was demanding ~45 millionThe Chargers put down an offer for 40.5 million and said thats our final offer and its going down every day after today.... someone even posted that quote above.Rivers balked, left San Diego and came back to Raleigh to work out.....Jesus christ it was only two years ago.You guys will stop at nothing to make him look like a Golden Boy.I dont have a SERIOUS problem with what he did.... although he was being illogical about the whole "i deserve to make as much as Eli" thing.... everyone can agree that was just plain illogical, im sure. The serious problem I have is that you don't give Terrell Owens, Javon Walker, etc the same benefit of the doubt that you give Philip Rivers. That's wrong. And to hear Philip bitch about playing time after he made it abundantly clear that money was his #1 priority... that irks me.[Edited on January 1, 2006 at 6:48 PM. Are you fucking kidding me?I'm not getting you a goddam link.THis has been covered ad nasuem for two years on this very message board.Do a search you lazy bastard.I'm not going to do research just because you have the memory of a third grade school girl. This thread is NOT about his contract it's about his incessant bitching about playing time and the fact that Rivers & Bench has a good shot to threepeatRivers & Bench '04!Rivers & Bench '05!Rivers & Bench '06?????????????
1/1/2006 7:34:25 PM
^This fag keeps ranting and raving over something he has no idea about. He's probably living with his mom and/or boyfriend in Chapel Hill anyways.Keep whining and making fun of Rivers while he's a multi-millionaire and you will never see a million. Jackass.
