happens to me sometimes when i get a sore/swollen throat, often after i spend a lot of time in a smokey enviroment. usually goes away in less than 24 hours.

It's probably just a bacterial infection (common this time of year) and may go away. If you've been sick recently or are getting sicker then that's probably all it is and will go away on its own or you can get antibiotics or something. Otherwise it's an allergic reaction or tonsilitis.

I've had this problem happen to me 3 times in the last 7 years. The only correlation I could find from the instances is that the night before each time I got really drunk. I always figured it was a weird reaction to the alcohol.

Each time its taken 2-3 days for it to go back to its normal size.

this has happened to me since i was like 10. it has nothing to do with alcohol (at least for me). the first times it happened, i went to a doctor because we were worried it would swell up too much and block my breathing. it's just inflamation. i just take some ibuprofen and it goes away.
