I know this game has been out for a while, but I didnt see any other threads about it when I did a search. Is anyone else as impressed with this game as I am? Man, I mean, I have not been this addicted to a game since Ninja Gaiden came out for the Xbox.Graphics - 9Gameplay - 10Story - 11!If you haven't played this yet, this game is definitely top 5 for PS2 for 2005 and in my personal top 10 all time for PS2. I wish they had released this for Xbox.

i really liked the storyits a very creative spin on Greek Mythology, which is something hardly ever done in gaming these days

best ps2 game in a fucking long time, but way too short to be considered one of the greatest. i mean i loved it, but i wouldnt buy a ps2 just for it (and thats what spells classic).

classic PSone game of all time...Castlevania: Symphony of the Night?
12/28/2005 6:29:21 PM
yes, though i could see buying a ps2 for god of war and maybe 2-3 others.

Why is this game good?
12/28/2005 9:24:17 PM
i bought it for my dad for christmas, and its far better than I imagined. The gameplay is different than anything I've played recently, and its something you just have to see for yourselfwatch some of the gameplay videos, but you really have to play it for yourselfhttp://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/godofwar/media.html

^^graphics: looks nice, some flashy effects and models aer well donestory: decent for an action game, some good pointscontrols: complex enough so it isnt tedious like a hack and slash, but you arent required to do insane combos or get confused on how to do something.gameplay: really really fun, a nice mix of minor exploration, platforming, puzzles, and most importantly fighting. theres little downtime in this game so you never really get too bored. the magic is varied and used well (though some spells are much more useful than others) and the boss battles are extremely fun. it basically is just the perfect mix of game styles.

I played it up to the temple on Kronos' back, and I kinda got bored with it. I liked the fighting engine, but I felt that there were too many puzzles (and my pet peeve, jumping puzzles) and too many of the enemies had some specific way you were supposed to kill them, and if you tried to kill them another way, you'd get fucked. If you're going to go to that much trouble to work out an awesome fighting engine, give me some strong/fast enemies that I have to outfight, rather than certain enemies that you kill with a certain move/spell.It was a fun game though. I may go back and play it some more one of these days.

well the one gripe i did have is that you spend over half the game in the temple trying to get pandoras box. least it is big though.

yeah i thought that level was awesomeand there are TONS of secrets in there
12/29/2005 2:56:24 PM
it was cool, no doubt, but it'd been better had the game been longer or that level been an hour shorter.[Edited on December 29, 2005 at 3:05 PM. Reason : preferably the former, cuz it gave it some nice scale for it to be so huge]

I loved the context-sensitive commands. Killing a minotaur by stabbing it through the jaw is really satisfying.

definitely
