I have a Dell 720 (1 year old)I just got a set of Logitech X530 5.1 Speakers I tested to make sure all the speakers work (with ipod)I plugged them all into the correct color coded ports in my computer When everything is pluged in only the Front Left, Front Right, and Sub work.I tried switching them all around but nothing seems to work I also changed my setup from desktop speakers to 5.1 and tried looking for soundcards but didnt see any

That is expected when you are playing music in stereo. Try a DVD or game with 5.1 audio and be sure your sound card supports it.

If you don't have a 5.1 signal, you're not going to get sound out of all your speakers. Try a DVD. Also, many systems mirror the frint left and right signal to their respective rear speakers. This will still leave the center putting out no sound. Let us know what soundcard/chipset you have and we'll be able to give you specific instructions.

Windows Media Player will output to all speakers regardless, so long as you have it down that your computer has 5.1 sound attached. Try playing something using that.

Video games will also have surround sound tests to ensure that it works correctly. Counterstrike/HL2 comes to mind. Dell/AC97 might have some software to test the surround sound ... can't remember.Also, check to make sure sound it enabled through the BIOS and check Dell's website (based off your Service Tag #) whether or not that particular computer supports 5.1 surround sound.
