dude there are a bunch for under 100 bucks. They all have 5 or 7" screens so the quality is going to be indistinguishable.

Well, I want to be able to take it with me when I go on my sub. I don't have much room in my rack (bed), so I want to fit it in my overhead.

my phone has a 2" screen and i watch movies on it and dont mindbut thats always on trips or something, it definately cant replace a portable dvd

^^Seriously man,I've bought and sold and used probably 10 different brands, sizes, and styles. They are all basically the same. Just get the one that you like and is the price you want to pay.

Cool. Next question: Are there any that have the capability to flip the screen (say, if you wanted to hang the "console" upside down from the ceiling but still watch the movie)?

^You are assuming someone wants to take the time and has the technical ability to copy and transcode all those dvd's.He just wants to watch some movies in a damn submarine. He isn't going to have another LCD to plug into, he isnt going to have a laptop to transcode with, he doesnt need to carry it in his pocket. He has room for the dvd's he wants to watch AND can share other DVD's among his crewmates.

12/26/2005 9:46:45 PM

12/26/2005 10:04:48 PM
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/dvd/product.asp?model=SD-P2600This one is really good. Has a really high resolution screen, and has component video output (if you ever need that... good if you have a projector, and want a small DVD player or something).http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&Q=&is=REG&O=productlist&sku=375481THis one is also pretty good, has a bigger screen than the Tosh, and is in the same price range.

I got the one I showed above. I figure a more durable player will be beneficial on the sub. Now I'm trying to come up with what else to buy.
