Does anyone here have any good advice for staying motivated and productive when you work for yourself? Not having a boss to answer to has me hitting the snooze button on my alarm way too much![Edited on December 22, 2005 at 3:52 AM. Reason : ]

Well I guess I should go ahead and get the drug recommendation out of the way...You should do performance-enhancing drugs.

I tried working from home once, it wasn't pretty, I could not get in the mindset to work when I sit around in my PJs and have all my stuff there to play with...

^^ just a guess heremaybe he plays online poker to pay his bills

Right now I play poker for fun and the income from it isn't enought to live on (although some day that would be sweeeeeeeeet). I work on the phone helping other people start their own businesses from home so they can have more time and money to spend with their families. I've been successful but my main problem is I will work just enough to pay my bills and have $$ for spending but then that's it. Once I've got enough $$ in the bank for the month I tend to find excuses to take it easy till next month.I'm trying to figure out how to get over this hurdle so I can really get ahead in life.[Edited on December 22, 2005 at 8:03 AM. I tried my own business when i was living in Jacksonville.... yea, i hit the snooze button a lot on my alarm to. Or I'd start working and after a few hours I'd decide it was time for a nap.so, now i have a lot of stuff for the business, but gave up on it... maybe one day I'll use it.good luck getting that motivation.

if you aren't motivated to work for yourself, then how much are you really going to enjoy doing that?

Motivation = EARLY RETIREMENT

^ What he said!!!Additional tips-1. Set a schedule, and STICK to it. No interruptions, etc, from family. You are "at work" and thus unavailible except for emergencies, just like you would at any other job.2. Set aside a work area, that is used for work and only work. Not the same computer/desk you play video games on, but basically an area you can set up like an office, to help get you in that mindset (it doesnt have to be a boring office, but it does need to be functional and without lots of temptations for distraction).

^ Yeah, I was thinking about both of those things. Thanks!

12/22/2005 6:52:28 PM
Ha, yeah. Less scheme, more business though.

im just trying to figure out how you got into a position to help people start home businesses when you cant do it yourselfand the conclusion i came to is either from a guy in the store or a 1-800 numberand i have a strong feeling the businesses you help them start are businesses that help others start businesses
12/22/2005 8:17:45 PM
Just because I'm not all that motivated to make 6 figures doesn't mean I'm not helping people. I'm just not pushing myself right now to keep my volume up.And since you mentioned it, I got started through my mother who has been very successful... not through an 800#.

Okay, you are missing my point but I'm through explaining myself. Thanks to those who were constructive.
