from time to time during the day i'd lose my connection from my router. i have a netgear624 v3. the connection is lost between the wired and the wireless connections. each time this happens i have to unplug the power and reconnect it. what can i do to fix this problem?

stop using bittorrent

yeah Bittorent does that.I had the same router v3 as well and my roommate would choke up the data lines with uploads reaching 90% of the RR limit. The router would periodically reset itself.

^^this has nothing to do with bittorrent

Get a D-Link, netgear is trash.

every netgear router i've ever had has done this.torrents nuke the hell out of them. Your only hope is to upgrade the firmware and pray.Or just stop downloading torrents.

Viruses can sometimes kill the router like that too.Somehow, I remember making this post recently.

its a problem with netgear routers being unable to handle a lot of traffic over a long period of time.traffic generated by a virus would have the same effect as a torrent

ok so it seems to be a general problem with netgear routers. i have updated to the newest firmware. to clear one thing up i don't download torrents and i don't have viruses on my computer. even when there is little to no traffic, i still get this problem. example: i am away for several hours and then come back and the connection is lost or i notice that the network connection has been restarted.

It could be an interfering cordless phone in that case.[Edited on December 19, 2005 at 9:27 PM. Reason : .]

^ it is a possibility that i may lose my connection to the wireless due to the phone, but that doesn't explain why the wired connection would also go out.
