Is it really worth getting the DVDs for online classes, or just going over the books and online lectures and so forth? I just don't see paying $50 for something thats worth $5 tops.

The classes I'm speaking of are MA 241 and MEA 101.

Also, has anyone ripped these DVDs before? Eheh

i'm pretty sure the 50 bucks is just a deposit

you should get it all back when you return the dvds at the end of the semester

The cost of the DVDs also covers the initial costs of filming/editing the video and all the technology that goes along with it. They do a nice job with them.

And this is not an online course (http://www.ncsu.edu/registrar/courses/websprg.html), this is a distance education course, which has a separate charge for tuition and fees (http://delta2.ncsu.edu/infofact/index.php?id=MA:241::601:SPRG:2006).

Right, I understood this much. I was just wondering if the DVDs are really worth the waste of money for the time, or if the book would suffice. And I referred to these as online because I'm taking all DE courses, miles from NCSU, which are all conducted mostly online.

It really depends on your learning style to answer your own question. I'm one of those people that has to be lectured to and has to write it down to get it. Some people can go just by the book and any notes posted online and be fine. Your call, but just hope you aren't kicking yourself in the butt at the end of the semester. Not that hard to wake up, be half-asleep, drink coffee, and watch a lecture.
