Yeah it is news to most people that we are engaged in anything over there. A friend of mine went to Jakarta with an agency in the intelligence community shortly after the bombing of the marriott a few years back. Doesn't take a genius to figure out what he was doing there.

SE Asia has actually been a major battlefield for the "War on Terror" almost immediately after Afghanistan. Between all those bombings in Bali and Muslim uprisings in the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia, the al-Qaeda is pretty active down there.Not to say that all the Muslim uprisings are al-Qaeda inspired (they're primarily economic in nature), but they tend to draw the al-Qaeda crew down there.[Edited on December 19, 2005 at 3:11 AM.
