App State lays an egg in the first half, basicallyGo 'Neers
12/16/2005 9:53:44 PM
their d-line certainly didn't... they're the only reason App is in the game stillis it just me or would anybody else play Richie Williams anyways?
12/16/2005 9:55:27 PM
Where's the stupid ass guy who always post..."No one at State cares about those other schools"...surprising he hasn't posted anything yet..."Ernie and Woodfoot".....you bright pricks always have something to say!

I think Rod Gilmore is one of the dumbest announcers out there. I agree with almost nothing he says. I wish he would quit talking about UNI's game last week. I can't remember who they played, but it was the game where UNI scored late and tied it. About a minute left and there on there own 20. They ran out the clock to play for OT. How can you argue with that? They could have run the ball and see what they got, but you can't risk a turnover that deep and give a good FG kicker a chance to win the game. Not only that....they go to OT and have the ball, down by 3, 25 yards away from winning. Gilmore keeps saying they made the wrong choice. If they can't go 25 yards with no clock.....what makes him think they were going to go 60 yards in a minute, and then make a FG? I am getting where I hate Gilmore almost as much as Paul Maguire. He just has a much better voice, but then again, so does a hyena in heat.
12/16/2005 10:05:28 PM
I don't really like him either but I think he has a point here -- 1:37 left in the game, 3 timeouts, I think it was a home game for Texas State, why not go for it?
12/16/2005 10:08:49 PM
They might want to try turning down the suck
12/16/2005 10:15:31 PM
idk why but i was thinking this was tommorow
12/16/2005 10:15:54 PM
good effort from Richie... I don't know why they're making such a big deal of him playing hurt - his backup is a slow white guy who when he actually makes a good run turns the ball over. If you're going to have a quarterback that can't really run, why wouldn't you want the guy that's been doin it for the last couple of years? TOUCHDOWN APP 16-14
12/16/2005 10:21:51 PM
I think you've got it backwards. 16-14 UNI
12/16/2005 10:28:17 PM
yeah said it backwards, my faultstupid penalty.. kinda reminds me of early State football this season.. turnovers, dumb penalties

SWEET SASSY MOLASSYasu returns fumble for td[Edited on December 16, 2005 at 11:01 PM. Reason : 21-16 app, 9:14 4th]

aimorris, basically I just don't think you can fault the coach either way. Like I say, I'd have run the ball a couple times, tried to get rid of some clock, and see what happens. No way I'd give them back the ball though. I don't think its a big deal that he played for OT, but Gilmore won't let it go. If they had been stopped and punted and then lost in regulation on a FG....what then? I hate Gilmore b/c he's a know-it-all and can't see that he might be wrong. Or that there might be different ways to do something. Also, he reminds me of Doc Walker, on ACC games, who thinks you have to "attack" on every play, rather than maybe playing a smart game as well.

Come on ASU, get a 3-and-out.

12/16/2005 11:29:04 PM
You fucking morons. Could have run clock under 30 sec's if not more. What in the hell? Maybe I should go be a college coach. Thats RIDICULOUS.
12/16/2005 11:29:53 PM
no thanks, we prefer clock mismanagement

was that announcer you were complaining about earlier in the thread the same one that was making such a big deal about them putting in williams with 2 seconds left in the first half for the hail mary? man, those were some of the most idiotic comments i've heard during a football game. who cares if he isnt warmed up? you dont need accuracy on a hail mary, you need someone who can get the ball down the field. i didnt even play football, much less coach it, and i know you want power over accuracy on a hail mary.[Edited on December 17, 2005 at 9:34 AM. from cfbdatawarehouse.com:Answering my question above, it looks like the only NC school to win a football national championship previously were very obscure ones: 1960, Lenoir-Rhyne won the NAIA National Championship1980 and 1981, Elon won the NAIA Division I National Championship2001, Gardner-Webb won the NCCAA National Championship1947, Shaw was a Black College co-National Champion1968, North Carolina A&T was a Black College co-National Champion1999, North Carolina A&T was a Black College National ChampionSo Appalachian State's triumph was the first ever NCAA national championship won by a North Carolina school.[Edited on December 17, 2005 at 1:33 PM.
