So, one of our mechanics quit the other day, and now I have to put a car back together that he had taken apart. It's a 93 Camry, 4cyl...I have a bracket left over that I simply cannot find where it goes. I'm more than positive it goes on the underside of the motor as it's really oily and greasy. I looked around for about 3 hours today and cannot find where the hell it goes. I'm assuming it connects to the transmission somewhere since I had to put the tranny back in the car....Anyone have any diagrams or somethin? Or a website maybe that shows an exploded view of a 93 camry 4 cylinder front end?[Edited on December 16, 2005 at 12:00 AM. Reason : .]

Question for you...is it cast aluminum, cast iron, or stamped steel? And where do you work?

I'm thinkin it's cast iron...pretty damn heavy. It's kinda triangular shaped...two holes on one end that mount to a flat surface...and one hole on the other end that's kinda caddy-cornered. There's also a long skinny "pad" made of foam about 2"x2"x6"....that I'm thinkin goes along with this somehow. I could be wrong though and maybe it goes somewhere else. I'd take pics if I had a camera...and it's gotta be done tomorrow anyway, so I'd have no way to post it on here...I work part time at my dad's garage in High Point, NC...Triad Tire and Auto Repair.[Edited on December 16, 2005 at 12:05 AM. It's a reinforcement bracket that goes from the bottom of the engine block to the transmission. I can't remember very well, but I think it's on the back side of the engine.

thanks man. That's exactly where I had it pegged...but I cannot find any damn holes that it'll line up with. I did find one place that it could possibly fit, but it's hittin the cv boot....oh well. I'll give it another shot bright and early in the mornin. Thanks again.

yeah, i agree that that sounds like the piece on the back of the engine btwn the tranny...

i'm pretty sure it has to go on before the converter cover plate, or maybe at the same time before the bolts go in, its been a while since i've had to take a transmission out of one, but i do remeber it being a bitch to get all lined up and the bolts started in it.

^69 had it right. It went on the bottom front of the motor, just behind the exhaust manifold. It connects to the tranny. Thanks for the help guys.

soo..for various reasons, this car is still in my shop. I've pulled and installed the tranny 3 times now, because every time I take it for a testdrive, something else breaks on the fucker. The tranny finally died on me (isnt going in reverse), so i'm putting a new one (or at least "new" from the junkyard)...and as soon as I get it in and running, I was cleaning the underside of it and sucked the shoprag into the flywheel (it was running). So now i have to take the FLYWHEEL off to get the rag out. pwnt.[Edited on January 2, 2006 at 2:03 PM. Reason : .]

That's a common problem.
