was the "former NFL player" part of the title necessary?having said that....DAMN! that's a fucking shame that he died so young. all that potential gone to wasteR.I.P.

^ actually, yes.he was suspended indefinitely by the NFL in July 2004. He hadnt played since, thus the "former"also, the title should reflect the reason for being in sports talk, hence the NFL Player. We are all winners in Christits just too bad you lost this one john kruk
12/15/2005 5:20:57 PM
^what he meant was that it was not necessary because we all already know who that is and that he no longer plays

that's exactly what I meant....i just figured that people in Sports Talk were knowledgeable enough to know who the 2nd overall pick in the NFL draft, Darrell Russell, was.

Was this the guy that played for the raiders and was suspened for substance abuse? I think he also appeared on the BDSSP?
12/15/2005 6:58:09 PM
Yeah that's him. He last played with the Redskins though.

These guys grow up in such a terrible living environment. Reading that article and how he couldn't say "No" to his friends, kind of sad. It's like if they leave their roots behind, they are selling out. And if they hang onto their friends from childhood, they are not being professional, mature, etc...which is what a few of his teammates said was partly to blame for his early departure from the NFL
