say a professor inputs the wrong final grade into the system, can he go back and change that whenever or does it have to be done by the grade submission deadline?the reason i ask is because a C+ was recorded for 1 of my classes and the professor emailed me informing me of a grading error and that he would change it to a B-. however, i just checked my grades and still a C+.

I had the same thing happen to me. It take a week or two for it to change. Why I do not know.

yes i read that he had the same thing happen to him but my question was how does he know it's a week. was he specifically told by a prof it's a week or did some dumb shmuck just say a week cause he didnt really know the answer? just want to be certain, that;s all.[Edited on December 15, 2005 at 4:20 PM. If the man says he will change it, he will change it. Trust him.It should take a while because there is paperwork for the teacher to fill out for a grade change. But, hold onto the professor's email and if it hasn't changed in a month or so, you have proof what it is supposed to be.

o i definitely trust he will change it. i was just curious to know how long a grade change takes with the Reg and Rec dept.

This is the same R&R that only updates normal grade submissions once a day M-F. Anything out of the ordinary will take forever.

well thanks for the vote of confidence!your professor will need to complete a grade change form (they are in his departmental office). once the form is completed and signed by his departmental offical it then comes to R&R.usually they use campus mail to send them over, so it takes a day or so. AND you never know how long it sits on the department head's desk.once it comes to R&R it is procesed THAT DAY and will be visible to the student the next.

^YES. The delay is not in Reg and Records. It is in all that comes before it. If it is not there by the time you come back from break, follow up with the professor.

When I've made a clerical error to a student's detriment, in addition to submitting the grade change form I usually offer to write a cover letter should the student need documentation that the grade was erroneous (for example, when I missed entering one of 300+ final exams). I suspect that most faculty would be willing to do so if asked.

happened to me in ECE301 for some reason he gave me a B instead of a B+ and then emailed me afterwords telling me he would change it (i never even asked) Took like a month or so for the B+ to show up, i should have known something was wrong the moment i got something other then a B+ (gd story of my life).

When I had this happen to me, the professor told me it would take 2 weeks for the paper work to go through and then another week or 2 for it to show up on TRACS.

well s/he was wrong

It's good to hear that the process doesn't take long. I was accidentally given an F when I actually made a B in a class this past semester. I won't feel comfortable until I can look on packtracks and see my correct GPA.[Edited on December 22, 2005 at 11:52 PM. Reason : .]

thanks everyone for the input, appreciate it. i'll be checkin it again in the next week or so just to see. i still have all the emails and stuff from my prof so i can always take care of it when the semester starts again. and holy shit, an F supposed to be a B? i'd be flippin out.
