mine does, but only when you first start. they supposedly give randoms, but I think that's mainly for factory workers who are using machinery and people they suspect and need to test.

my gf is a teacher in yadkin county, and they don't test you. I find that funny.

Yes - once before they hire you, no randoms. But they used to not test at all.

Yes, before you're hired. They threaten random drugs tests, but you'd have to be walking around with white powder under your nose before they'd consider it.

yep random tests. since i've been here, selected twice. (and passed twice thx). most people are "randomly" selected 1/year to 1/2yrs.

but then again we work with stuff that explodes....

oh, I definitely do know. some counties do test, however. I don't think it's a state-by state thing, I think it's county by county.

I can give you a list of teachers I had who were probably stoners:

7th grade science teacher
elementary school art teacher
middle school art teacher
7th grade social studies teacher
high school english teacher
I know for a fact that my highschool theater teacher and german teacher got high every thursday night

Mine does not.

It costs too much for too little return on investment. If someone's drug habits are going to impede their work, it's ultimately going to show up in the quality of their work, which is the most worthwhile test.

Plus, they'd have to fire all of the really smart people.

see we have some performance issues with an employee, but bossman is hands off, oblivious, and lazy, so im thinking if said employee were to fail a drug test, there would be no choice but to terminate.

That makes sense. I guess a lot of it really depends on the corporate culture. If you're in the bottom 5% here, you're gone whether it's drugs or ineptitude.

the gov't place i worked at didn't test - the jobs i had in the UK didn't test - the job I got here (an industry association) doesn't test - and the new job I got doesn't test.

When i interned at nortel, they did not.
However, they lay everybody and his brother off so....it isn't hard to get laid off there or get rid of someone I imagine. Most bosses are fighting to keep their teams intact.
