suntrust
12/14/2005 7:25:26 PM
locally, BB&T if you can't get an account with SECU.Nationally, BoA, but if you don't do a lot of traveling, BB&T is a better choice.
12/14/2005 8:02:15 PM
^^like hell, i hate suntrust with a passion
12/14/2005 9:00:33 PM

12/14/2005 9:50:12 PM

12/14/2005 10:21:58 PM
^^^ My mom was a VP at CCB before it merged with suntrust They didn't fire her though, she gets paid more to not do as much now.
12/14/2005 10:39:43 PM
Wachovia. Suntrust if fucking useless; my mom bancks with them, and has gajillions of problems.
12/14/2005 10:47:56 PM
ive had no problems w/ Bank of America, free checking etc...and its easy to find an ATM in other states..which i like
12/14/2005 10:50:44 PM
I have accounts at both Wachovia and BB&T...and honestly, both suck around campus. But I'd go with BB&T if I had to choose only one.
12/14/2005 10:52:06 PM
before it was Nation's Bank it was NCNB...now that was a LONG time ago
12/14/2005 11:32:53 PM
SECU if you can...
12/14/2005 11:37:47 PM
SECU IF YOU CAN
12/15/2005 12:05:19 AM
SECU is a credit union, not a bank. SECU if you can.
12/15/2005 12:12:57 AM
ya i shouldve said in my original post that i already have a secu which is where my money my mom gives me goes so i was looking for another bank
12/15/2005 12:17:33 AM
Why?
12/15/2005 12:21:56 AM
yeah that would have been helpful, ace... ha jkthat's where i have my checking/atm and everything else, so that's why i suggested it. had bb&t before - they're ok... i know several people with mixed feelings about wachovia...
12/15/2005 12:23:12 AM
Wachoviaesp. if you are looking for lots of atms...they are Everywhere!
12/15/2005 12:29:46 AM
Wachovia is fine..but only if you can keep a steady balance and not be down to only a couple bucks in your account... Their fees are killer for overdrawing, and overdraw coverage by having a savings account is like $10 everytime you need it...it sux if you only have a few bucksBut a ton of locations and their online stuff isn't too bad either[Edited on December 15, 2005 at 12:45 AM. Reason : yup]
12/15/2005 12:44:53 AM
Isn't BOA's online account access thing the one that updates the fastest and posts your account activity the soonest?
12/15/2005 12:48:07 AM
yea Wachovia's overdraft stuff SUCKS...30 bucks cuz i went over 3. their online stuff is pretty good..my dad put money in and i saw it 5 mins later
12/15/2005 12:51:39 AM
just know how much money you have in your account and don't overdraftduh
12/15/2005 1:47:08 AM
secu doesnt charge for overdraft. i had -70 dollars once
12/15/2005 2:28:18 AM
Yeah they do, they charge either 1 or 12 dollars, depending on whether it's the first time that month.
12/15/2005 2:35:42 AM
Don't use RBC Centura. They have lots of fees and require you to have a crap load of money in your account.CCB was my only bank since I was a kid...but I moved after it merged with SunTrust. I don't have much experience with SunTrust, but I haven't had any major problems with using my check card or anything.
12/15/2005 1:30:20 PM
SECU's overdraft charge is 0.50 each time you do it. I think you get like 6 times a month or something. What they do is take 50$ from your savings account (or wahtever account your overdraft one is) and put it in your checking for you and charge you 0.50$. I'm not sure what they do if you dont have another account linked to your checking.
12/15/2005 1:45:53 PM
I'm happy w/ BB&T
12/15/2005 1:52:58 PM
^^http://www.ncsecu.org/RatesAndFees.aspx?page=8&item=0&name=cntlDepositRatesYou're correct, you can have 6 overdraft transfers a month. If you don't have an account linked, you don't have overdraft protection, and it would classify as having insufficient funds and $12 would be charged to your account.I had CCB growing up (starting with when it was called NBC bank). Switched over to SECU a couple of years ago and haven't looked back since.[Edited on December 15, 2005 at 1:55 PM. Reason : .]
12/15/2005 1:54:32 PM
I used to only use the North Carolina State Employees Credit Union, but since that's not an option at my current location,I use Wachovia (however, they are only in midtown).-ZiP!-
12/15/2005 1:57:51 PM
This is your best bet since all banks are scams.
12/15/2005 6:13:52 PM
Are you still a student?I have accounts with SECU (not available to you prolly), Wachovia, and BoAWachovia is great for me while I'm still a student. If you're going to go to the West Coast ever, get the BoA. I was in Vegas for a week and had to pay exorbitant ATM fees because Wachovia doesn't cross the Mississip. Anyway, BoA has been pretty good so far for my checking, but I haven't used them much.
12/15/2005 6:27:31 PM
first citizensget overdraft protection, online bankingupdates real quick online, is free, not as many atms and kinda stingy on locations, not sure if they go outside of nc....available in nc, va, wv, tn, and maryland[Edited on December 17, 2005 at 1:15 AM. Reason : j]
12/17/2005 1:13:57 AM
why don't you want to stay with SECU?
12/17/2005 1:18:28 AM
if you say i referred you to bank of america we'll both get $25 i've never had a problem with them and their online banking is pretty damn sweet.
12/17/2005 1:46:25 AM
NATIONS BANKLMAO!!!! I remember the suckers I would get from that place....that was some good shit.Bank of America....First Citzens sucks ASS!!1
